Two parties this past weekend to welcome summer. The picnic on the Sunday was full of kids with water-guns, and tasty smoked meats. I had a great weekend of hanging out with friends and relaxing. Even got to play with a old portable typewriter that a friend had found at a yard sale. He needs to take me to these yard sales some time, he always finds the best stuff.

Work goes on. Our new hires have completed the first round of training and are being thrown into the mix/tossed to the wolves. Summer has a lot of people moving on or going on vacation, so we’re doing our best to keep up. The computers haven’t been cooperating this week, but we’re managing.

Apparently, we’ve given up on the tablet business, though. Going to stop making the HDs and let someone else do it instead. It appears that we will still carry and support whatever they come up with, but we won’t be financially responsible for them. Simple Touches are sticking around, though, and the Glowlight. In the meantime, our HDs are ridiculously cheap.

Another relaxing weekend ahead for me. Going to go visit my brother’s family on Sunday, so that should be fun. Should start packing soon, signing my new lease in three weeks.

Aside from Father’s Day, Sunday held two other important events. My Parents’ 40th Anniversary (thanks for the reminder, Mom), and K’s Birthday!  So Congratulations and many Salutations to all of them. Hope everyone had a great weekend with their families and friends. I did a lot of relaxing and random Netflix watching. Tomb Raider was an odd little movie, I liked the characters better in the second one.

Finally did all the house cleaning on Monday. Went through all my files, shredded a bunch of Really Old Stuff, including some 5-year old, 1 year warranties. Found a spare passport picture, in case I ever do get in gear to send for my student ID. I’m just not sure it will be useful to me since I’m not on campus. Might just do it for cheaper movie tickets. 😉

Switched my phone today, so I’m without service until the new plan kicks in at midnight. That’s probably something they should have told me ahead of time, but oh well. Back to a basic flip phone, but I do have unlimited text and data. Still not sure what good data is on a tiny flip phone, but we’ll see.

This weekend, is the Pride parade. I actually don’t have to work, so I think I’m heading down to the short north for that. Not sure where exactly. Sunday is a big picnic with friends, so that’ll be fun.

Welcome to Summer!

I guess the storm came through Columbus last night, my car was wet when I went to work this morning anyway. I didn’t hear anything. Much worse further north. Hope everyone is safe and powered.

Celebrated an engagement with friends this past weekend, I wish them all the best as they plan their lives together. Learned a new game – ladder ball. It was fun, but I’d have to play a lot more to be any good at it. The fire was lovely and warm, though the stone benches remained chilly, which was odd to me, but I guess it takes more heat, or less people blocking them from the fire to warm up.

Got approved for my apartment this week and dropped off the deposit so they’ll hold it for me until I’m ready to move in towards the end of July. A lot of things to do next month for the move.

Father’s Day on Sunday, so Happy Father’s Day to all the dads who read this, and to my Dad, who I think Mom prints this out for him to read.

Lots of friends at Origins this week/end, I think I’m just going to relax, take it easy, and maybe clean my desk.

A quiet week for me. Just the usual working and hanging out with friends. I went to a meditation workshop on Monday that was quite interesting, informative and fun. So, I’m looking into doing that more often, for health and well being. I’ve been so worn out lately, I’ve got to start taking back my energy. Had a nice drive on Sunday, just went east for a while and then came back home. It was a gorgeous day.

Applications out in the world, both for jobs and a new apartment. Waiting to hear back on all of that. Waiting for the fall and the beginning of classes. Waiting to see what all the changes at the store will bring. Waiting for summer to start in earnest, we’ve a couple more weeks by the calendar.

Been reading old science fiction lately. First The Invisible Man and now War of the Worlds. Both have the tone that usually turns me off literature of that time period (or “literature” in general), but the topics are of interest to me, and they are both very short, so I push on. I’ll get back into history again after this, I think. One more “recreational” nonfiction book before I start school. Just have to decide which time period. Technically, the 20s and 30s are next if I stay linear. I was planning on skipping WWII (as the point was learning more about things of which I know the least), and reading up on Korea and Vietnam, too. So, I’m not sure what I’ll choose. Suggestions?
