Had a really nice Christmas. Spent Christmas Eve morning at work, with very understanding folks who knew they were too late for what they wanted. Spent the rest of the day watching Star War, wrapping presents and snuggling the puppy. Christmas Day I spent the afternoon with Pete and family, including their new dog. We had a great time with new toys, games, puzzles and books. Then I spent the evening watching the end of Matt Smith’s term as Doctor Who. I have new (and old) movies to watch, new books to read, and new clothes to shop for. Thank you to those that sent cards, I filled up my “mantlepiece” this year. 🙂 Hope everyone else had a wonderful day as well.

Now, if I can just get rid of this cold, I’d be doing great. I think I’ve caught up on all the in-theater movies I want to see (unless Ender makes it to the dollar theater), so this weekend will involve more resting after work on Saturday. On another health note, if anyone has a three-bean chili recipe they’re particularly fond of, I’m in the market. Cold med-head has put Ancestry.com research on temporary hold, but I should get back to it next week.

And work is booming. So busy and crazy. Ah the holidays. But nothing too terrible. Days go by pretty fast, and we’re almost done.

Finished Bones season 8 last weekend. Nearly done with Dr Who season 7 as I type this. Watched Thor and Despicable Me 2 this past weekend. Got the Paige tree printed and working on Mom’s side this week. Working on getting the veggies back in my diet as well. Lots of green eating since Sunday.

Two holiday parties this weekend. Going to visit my brother and his family on Christmas Day. Pet sitting on the eve and the day. Having a very good, though exhausting, holiday season.

Merry Christmas!

So, classes are done, grades are coming in. All is going well, so far. Some new scholarships have opened up, and I’ll be applying to at least one of them if I can figure out where the application link is. But for now, it’s my vacation.

I watched all of Season 8 of Bones via Netflix. And now I’m mad, if you have seen and remember the season ender, you’ll know why, if not – well, let’s just say that the big bad has been running strong for two seasons and he’s still on the loose. 😦 I have yet to get to the library for Dr Who, but I’ll be doing that soon.

I did, however, spend ridiculous amounts of time on Ancestry.com because my attempt to make a database of my family tree got stalled by missing dates and the website offered me 7 days free. I spent a good deal of Wednesday wading through European royalty of the Middle Ages because it turns out my Dad’s paternal grandmother’s family goes back through Charlemagne et al, not to mention a couple saints and at least one king or queen from almost every European country, if not several. The rest of the lines stall out way before then, but I’m most frustrated by the Paige line faltering so quickly. Not sure if it has to do with the name change, or just poor record keeping, must investigate more and try a few searches. I haven’t even begun on Mom’s side because I had so much more information to start with there already. Weee fun! 🙂

Christmas parties start this weekend. The crowds started last weekend. Snow and cold is making driving absolutely crazy. Less than two weeks to go, are you ready?

Raining and chilly right now, soon to be sleeting and freezing… and then some snow. Yes, it is was also 60 degrees this morning. Ah, Ohio in December. There’s a jewelry store that is betting on the unpredictability of Ohio weather and promising this weekend’s purchases will be free if it snows 6 inches on Christmas Eve in the city. Good luck to them, and their customers.

I’m finishing up my semester tonight. I wrote my last two discussion posts and finished pulling together my annotated bibliography already. After I post this, I’ll be writing my summary and be pulling it all together to submit. Then all I have left is a one page journal-style reflection which I hope to finish tonight, as well. Then it is Christmas break!

Full of working at the store. 😉 And hanging out with friends. Am now debating the Festivus party this weekend, bad weather and a drive to and from Cleveland, while typical for this particular party every year, may just not be my cup of tea this time, we’ll see. It might all melt by Saturday afternoon. I will be doing the lion’s share of my Christmas shopping on Sunday evening at my store’s employee shopping night, put my oldest niece’s present on hold today so it wouldn’t sell out before the weekend.

Plans for Christmas break: Dr Who series 7, Bones season 8, Ender’s Game, Thor, Catching Fire, The Hobbit part 2 and reading fantasy novels.
