Had a great weekend down in Cincinnati meeting new people, learning new things, eating good food. This is my weekend off between cons, so I’m spending it relaxing… and possibly bowling, or maybe just cheering.

Class work was pretty quick this week, too. More fun with Excel. Getting all the basics down before we get into the meat of the class. Two more weeks until I start my second class. So, I’ll enjoy the slow pace while it lasts.

Still reading Kushiel’s Dart (did I mention it’s really long). But have also started Book 3 of War with the Chtorr. Book five, which had been on the coming soon list at B&N, is now back out of the system… again. Ah well, most people said it was a false hope.

Fighting a cold this week, thanks DeCon. ūüėČ ¬†It was a good weekend hanging out with friends and relaxing. Watched a bit of Labyrinth and Princess Bride. Played some Cards. Learned some new trivia and old.

I like my Information class so far. We’re learning to play with Excel and IF statements. So far, so good, if due dates are a little confusing again. But it’ll all sort out, she gave us a good check list to help keep track. And transcripts of the videos, which always help.

Watching M.A.S.H. the movie as I type this. I knew the opening song was depressing, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually heard it before… :/ ¬†Odd movie night for me. Just watched Mean Girls, because a few friends said I ought to see that. Not bad for a high school flick.

Learned some things about waffles today. Gotta make sure the iron is well oiled, ended up with cooked waffle batter stuck to both sides of the iron, and a plateful of pancakes instead. Learned I can good pancakes alright, though, first time for everything.

Writing up this post early as tomorrow night will be moving gear into the hotel for the weekend, and finishing homework for the week. And then starting Friday, I will mostly offline, at least as far as blogging is concerned. Local cons are nice, I don’t have to worry about forgetting something. ūüôā

First class is interesting, though it’s another Tuesday due date class. So that’ll be fun. Though, we get lower grades if we wait until Tuesday to turn in the work (because we’re supposed to be discussing it throughout the week). So that might help things along. And no Group Project! ¬†Yay!! I do have to observe a partner to do my final assignment, but not nearly as tricky as constant group interaction and coordination.

Work is work, interview did not pan out. Picture book sliced my finger wide open today right on the inside of a joint. But the cardboard displays for the OSU Sports Illustrated Special Edition did not do too much damage. Ah winter, full of dry, fragile skin.

See you next week!

Late posting, due to taking some time for myself at the end of the week. Went up to visit friends for a few days of quiet, good food, and relaxing. Before all the crazy gets started again. It was a very nice few days.

Monday, which is still tomorrow for a few more minutes, I start Spring semester (doesn’t really feel like spring with an ice storm moving through tonight). ¬†Information Storage and Retrieval Systems and Digital Curation classes and a PHP & MySQL workshop.

More new job stuff in the works, as well. Thank you Mom, Erin, Kevin, and Savory for the Interview Clothing assistance.

Grey jacket, white shirt, maroon sweater, grey pants

The end of the week begins the official Convention season for me. DeCon here in town gets us going. Really looking forward to spending the weekend with friends. And many more to come.

Hope everyone had a great ushering in of the new year last night. I spent the night with lots of friends, playing Starfarers of Catan for the first time in 12 years. I did not win, but I didn’t do terribly, either. It was a great night full of friends and chosen family.

Football tonight, and one more New Year’s party on Friday. Just one ten more days until class starts up again. Looking forward to getting my final year going. Still tossing out a handful of applications most weeks. Today is interview clothes shopping day, because I keep putting it off. Hopefully, I’ll manage it this time.

The store survived Christmas and had a very successful December. We head into the new year with a few more changes to come. As always.

Got one of my projects done, I built a new genealogical database, full of relationships and keys. I’ve got the PHP and MySQL workshop this semester, so hopefully, I’ll be able to sort out integrating the database with Drupal.

Happy 2015!
