May is ending, business is beginning again. The threat hasn’t passed, but people are tired and restless. And angry. But they can’t fight a virus, so they are fighting each other. It’s exhausting. On top of an already exhausting world.

I’m having a rough week, but I’ll get through it. My usual camping trip this past weekend went online through Zoom, Discord, and Twitch. It was an interesting experience. Smoother than other virtual events I’ve attended. My loved ones are finally getting postponed medical procedures. One completed successfully this week, a more serious one next week. And I’ve now been home alone except for food and one afternoon in-car game for eleven weeks.

I still have two meals a week with friends over video chat. The D&D game is steaming right along on Hangouts. I’m a week behind in blogging it, but I’ll try to catch up tonight. And I start getting farm fresh deliveries next week from our local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). And I have a pretty new gaming mouse with color changing lights. And did some coloring to relax this weekend.

Going mouse with LEDs

New color pencils

Please be careful out there.

The state is opening up, under social, political, and economic pressure. Fortunately, the college is not following. By end of week, restaurants will be open within social distance guidelines, and by the end of the month: non-contact sports, campgrounds, day camps, and even pools.

I think I’m going back to ordering my groceries again. I have CSA deliveries starting at the same end of this month as well. Fresh produce from local farms. That should help.

CSCC is on semester break right now, so we’re scrambling to get everything ready for summer. More videos for instruction, PPTs, research guides, and switching to a new reporting system. I have a three day virtual conference next week on Best Practices for digital data, storage, and collections. Looking forward to it very much.

Being stuck in this apartment has intensified my condo desires, but it’s still too early for looking into that too deeply. I did find an area I think I can afford, though. I also got a new graphics card for my computer, so I can use all three screens at once. I usually have at least six programs running at once for work.

Hope everyone is doing well. Be safe, be healthy.

I hope all the women reading this have an amazing day, whether you have children, or not. This is a day to celebrate all the women who take care of others and the world. We can do anything, together!

We welcome May with beautiful weather, though it isn’t going to last past the weekend. I had a lovely walk yesterday to pay rent, check mail, and take out the trash. Cooler today, but I’m leaving the windows open until it starts to rain. It’s a spring cleaning weekend, and I want as much fresh air in the house as possible.

Being stuck in the house is a definite motivator to clean it on a regular basis. But it also makes me want to buy things. Organizational things (I’ve started using shoeboxes), computer things (a 1080 monitor), creativity things (resisted so far, but more paint and glue are calling), dice and gaming things, and art. These last couple from creators trying to make a living in this mess without their normal conventions to sell their wares. The stimulus has made this harder to resist, but I did but most of it away for my condo dream.

Ohio is on a slow reopen path now. Outpatient Medical things are now available. Curbside otr appointment for more retail this weekend. Offices and manufacturing that can follow guidelines can open Monday. And the rest of retail, following guidelines, on the 12th. All the while, our “safer at home” order stays in effect, with no large gatherings, travel only to these allowed businesses, and the strong suggestion that you wear a mask at all times outside your home, if you are able. We still have a long way to go, friends. Be safe, and respect all those who have continued working through all of this. We have to do better for them all.
