Happy Thanksgiving to all my Family and Friends!

Thanksgiving Dinner

Ralphie tried to save me from myself by attacking the loaf of wheat bread for the stuffing, but I caught it before it was destroyed. I may have roasted the hen upside-down… maybe. All in all, though, it turned out really well. Just ate about half of this (all the hen, not quite half the cranberry sauce) for first dinner. Finishing it in a few hours for second dinner.  😉

Had a really nice weekend with friends this past weekend. Another one ahead. December, funnily enough, will be much quieter than November was. Hopefully, it’ll help me keep up the energy I need to get a job nailed down. A lot of applications to send out there. Still optimistic.

Taking a break from Dresden Files until I can get the Marsters narrated Ghost Stories. (I tried, I just couldn’t do it with Glover.) So, I picked up Neil Patrick Harris’s Choose Your Own Autobiography audiobook from the library. They had to change it up a bit for the audiobook, but it’s just as entertaining as I expected.  Going to take a look for Carey Elwes’ As You Wish, too at some point. It wasn’t at Bexley, when I was, at least.

Enjoying the ridiculous Detroit Lions game today. Wow…

Hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend.

Completed both my internships this week. Now, to land a job. 🙂

Halloween weekend went really well. All the things went smoothly and were lots of fun. And I didn’t eat ridiculous amounts of candy. Nor did I buy ridiculous amounts of candy. Good job, me.

November now, conventions and holidays galore. This weekend: Stuff with friends, and maybe a BAD OGRE drop by. Pondering the D&D game and the VtM game, but it requires me to get up and over the Granville by noon on Saturday. I might just sleep. But as I’m not planning on going out on Friday, it IS possible.

Next week, my plans are rest, paperwork, writing (semi-seriously pondering NaNoWriMo), and job applications. Then puppy-sitting the Ralphie. 🙂

Late posting because Halloween. One party down, two to go. 😉

Internships are going well, just one week left. Unfortunately, this means I have to get up and speak in front of people on Tuesday, but they’re feeding me first, at least. Have really enjoyed both of my internships and learned a ton of practical skills.

I need to find more jobs to apply for, I’m still waiting to hear on a couple. Anybody need a tech savvy librarian? 😉 Excited about this new chapter in my life.

No food pictures this week, been so busy. I did a lot of chopping and freezing, but not so much on the eating any of it yet. Anyone have good recipes for a summer squash/pumpkin hybrid?

Life is good!

Lots of Usability Testing and microfilm scanning at my internships this week. That’s most of what I’ll be doing next week, too. Weee! Almost done! Thinking good thoughts for the future.

My Otterbein supervisor gave me a rather large squash on Tuesday. Then I got my CSA delivery, with a Really Huge bok choy bunch. I have never seen it whole before, but I in no way imagined it would be bigger than my torso… I have a lot of chopping to do tomorrow. I looked up a good way to freeze it, so it doesn’t get mushy and gross. Also got a butternut pumpkin and an acorn squash. I may have to look into chunking and freezing squash, too. Got a bunch of greens, too – spinach, kale, and green beans – gotta use those all up this weekend, unless I’m going to freeze the beans, but I think I’ll just garlic them up and eat them.

Tomorrow is Ohio IR Day. Where I will go listen to people talk about what they are doing with Institutional Repositories in Ohio. Should be fun and educational. Hopefully we’ll get some good advice for promoting the Digital Commons @ Otterbein. Our survey is showing that a  lot of folks are completely unaware of it.

A couple Halloween parties this weekend. Gotta see how many spoons I have to go out and party. Been a bit short on sleep this week.

Had a great weekend last week. Went up to Cleveland, with some CSA in tow. Which resulted in this deliciousness:

Corned Beef

And, since I did not end up going camping, we went for a hike instead. It was a very lovely day in the trees. We even did some scrambling up a slate-covered hill, to relax away from all the wandering families and pets.

We took the slightly safer way down:

Down the Hill

Things are moving along with my internships. I only have three weeks left. So, I’ve started applying for jobs locally, and have had one interview so far.

I also baked a squash during yesterday’s heartbreaking football game.

Butternut Squash

And then enjoyed the OSU game with friends. That was a nice way to cheer up. And then there was fire and S’Mores. Today, there is beef-less stew bubbling in the crockpot.

Six weeks down, four to go. So very excited to start the next chapter of my life. Now I just have to get past the application/interview process. I can do this. 🙂 (Well, okay, I need that diploma to arrive, too…)

Really enjoying listening to the Dresden Files on audio. I’m on White Night, and loving every one. I was told I’d get tired of it after awhile, and was given World War Z, too, just in case. But so far, when I finish each one, I just want to start the next.

Got another squash, some more potatoes, some carrots, and onions, some apples and even a tiny jar of real maple syrup this week. I see a stew in my future. 🙂 In the meantime, this was my first ever Roasted Acorn Squash:

An hour and a half of stuff to do tomorrow, then I’ll officially be halfway through my internships. Now it’s time to start applying for jobs and going to conferences. Currently have one scheduled for October and emailed about volunteering for one in November. There’s one this weekend that would have been interesting, but I am exhausted, and I need to focus on making a plan and getting some rest. I have a very busy couple of months coming up.

Camping, Halloween parties, conventions, and holidays, wee!

Enjoying my cantaloupe, zucchini and potatoes from my CSA, this weekend will be the squash and setting up the order for next week.

Fall Equinox earlier this week, officially time for all the pretty leaves. Looking forward to a beautiful Autumn.

Had a good party with Fleet friends last weekend. This weekend is for the relaxing. I also did a Lot of Cleaning after the fleet party. Finally shredded or filed all the papers that have been piling up since I moved in here over two years ago. My office looks so nice and clean now.

Week four at the internships, all the details will be posted in their respective blogs tomorrow, but I did a lot of good work this week at Otterbein, and got a ton of pictures, letters, and historical documents uploaded at CML.

This was also my first week of the CSA. New Century CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) brought my first batch of fresh produce Wednesday morning – in time for me to get to work by 9am no less. I got a cantalope, a seedless watermelon, a head of red and green lettuce, a zuccini, a head of garlic, a small bag of sweet potatoes, and one of white potatoes, a butternut squash and an acorn squash. I’ve eaten half the watermelon and a handful of smaller white potatoes so far. Very tasty!  I have to look up recipes for the squash, but I’m going to have a bunch of the lettuce tonight with dinner.
