Late in posting, sorry about that folks. On Friday, I officially graduated with my Masters of Library and Information Science from Kent State University. Hurrah!

Finally feeling mostly better from all the illness of the past two weeks. Yay!

Still submitting a few applications every week, but everyone is on holiday now. So, high hopes for news in January.

Had my first three holiday parties this past weekend. So, Merry Christmas to all!

First week of down time. Weather has figured out that it’s November – no snow down here yet, but chilly and cloudy. Wind is picking up like crazy today.

Apartment is cleaned, dishes and laundry done. I’m good at cleaning when I should be doing other things. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ย But I’ve also found a few more really good opportunities to apply to. Things are looking very hopeful.

Spent Saturday at BAD OGRE gaming with the Denison Gaming Guild. Played 5th ed D&D, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and two games of Werewolf. It was a great time. Love my alma mater.

Went back yesterday, too. Visiting Fred and checked out the new Library Archives, which they’ve moved to the basement. It’s a really great space, natural light, better shelving in the back room. Really nice place.

Late posting because Halloween. One party down, two to go. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Internships are going well, just one week left. Unfortunately, this means I have to get up and speak in front of people on Tuesday, but they’re feeding me first, at least. Have really enjoyed both of my internships and learned a ton of practical skills.

I need to find more jobs to apply for, I’m still waiting to hear on a couple. Anybody need a tech savvy librarian? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Excited about this new chapter in my life.

No food pictures this week, been so busy. I did a lot of chopping and freezing, but not so much on the eating any of it yet. Anyone have good recipes for a summer squash/pumpkin hybrid?

Life is good!

Lots of Usability Testing and microfilm scanning at my internships this week. That’s most of what I’ll be doing next week, too. Weee! Almost done! Thinking good thoughts for the future.

My Otterbein supervisor gave me a rather large squash on Tuesday. Then I got my CSA delivery, with a Really Huge bok choy bunch. I have never seen it whole before, but I in no way imagined it would be bigger than my torso… I have a lot of chopping to do tomorrow. I looked up a good way to freeze it, so it doesn’t get mushy and gross. Also got a butternut pumpkin and an acorn squash. I may have to look into chunking and freezing squash, too. Got a bunch of greens, too – spinach, kale, and green beans – gotta use those all up this weekend, unless I’m going to freeze the beans, but I think I’ll just garlic them up and eat them.

Tomorrow is Ohio IR Day. Where I will go listen to people talk about what they are doing with Institutional Repositories in Ohio. Should be fun and educational. Hopefully we’ll get some good advice for promoting the Digital Commons @ Otterbein. Our survey is showing that a ย lot of folks are completely unaware ofย it.

A couple Halloween parties this weekend. Gotta see how many spoons I have to go out and party. Been a bit short on sleep this week.

Six weeks down, four to go. So very excited to start the next chapter of my life. Now I just have to get past the application/interview process. I can do this. ๐Ÿ™‚ (Well, okay, I need that diploma to arrive, too…)

Really enjoying listening to the Dresden Files on audio. I’m on White Night, and loving every one. I was told I’d get tired of it after awhile, and was given World War Z, too, just in case. But so far, when I finish each one, I just want to start the next.

Got another squash, some more potatoes, some carrots, and onions, some apples and even a tiny jar of real maple syrup this week. I see a stew in my future. ๐Ÿ™‚ In the meantime, this was my first ever Roasted Acorn Squash:

An hour and a half of stuff to do tomorrow, then I’ll officially be halfway through my internships. Now it’s time to start applying for jobs and going to conferences. Currently have one scheduled for October and emailed about volunteering for one in November. There’s one this weekend that would have been interesting, but I am exhausted, and I need to focus on making a plan and getting some rest. I have a very busy couple of months coming up.

Camping, Halloween parties, conventions, and holidays, wee!

Enjoying my cantaloupe, zucchini and potatoes from my CSA, this weekend will be the squash and setting up the order for next week.

Internships still going well, though my posts last week were a few days late, due to busy and tired. Finally got the Annual Reports caught up, and now on to more items for the African American collection.

Received my welcome email from the CSA today. They changed my delivery day to Wednesdays. This Could be problem. They suggest leaving a cooler with ice in front of your house for the delivery, but I live in an apartment building. Originally, the delivery day was Friday, which is my day off. Hoping I’m early in the route, and can just head to work after they arrive. We shall see, first delivery is next week.

Fleet party this weekend. Looking forward to relaxing with friends. Haven’t had a local event since the early Summer picnic. Also a wedding shower to attend on Saturday. A day full of friends and chosen family.

Missed gaming this week, trying to fight off ConCrud before the weekend. Last week we made new 5th Ed characters, first time with the newest edition of D&D, to use when our GM is absent. Seems good so far. I need to flesh her out a bit. Regular game is going really well, my character is having a lot of fun. I’m slowly working on my gaming blog, getting his adventures online. It is hard to catch up when you’ve been playing for six months without blogging any of it.

Nights are getting cooler, though days are still mostly oppressively hot. But fall is on its way. ๐Ÿ™‚

Had a nice weekend. Hung out with friends. Wandered around Easton, including the Lego Store, Jenni’s, and at least one kitchen store. Watched OSU’s opener Monday night on a big screen with other friends. All in all, not a bad way to begin September. Much larger group gathering this weekend.

Internships are both going well, even went to a meeting with a bunch of Digital Librarian type people from all over the state on Wednesday (OhioDIG: Ohio Digital Interest Group). That was really interesting, learning about OSU’s big digital reorganization, and getting to tour the Westerville Public Library’s archives department.

Started both my internships this week. Really enjoying them. At Otterbein, I am working on the Digital Commons user survey, a Digital Commons Event Form, collection weeding, and website proofreading. At Columbus Metropolitan Library, I created, and began populating a digital collection of Columbus City Annual Reports, starting in 1858.

For more information on both of these internships, I am keeping blogs that will be updated each Friday. The can be found at my Website: CatesCreativeDesign.com on the Blogs page, or directly at the following links: Otterbein Courtright Memorial Library and Columbus Metropolitan Library.

Having a lot of fun in on Legacy of Heroes 2nd Edition campaign with my tiny paladin, hope to get some of his adventures blogged this weekend, too. It is such a good group of well defined, and fantastically RPed characters.

A quiet weekend ahead, I’m sure there will be much WoW, as the newest big patch dropped this week. But I have spent so much time sitting at a desk this week, that I really want to get outdoors and walk around. Maybe OhioRen‘s opening weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

Today was my Last Day at Barnes & Noble. It’s been a good run, nearly 13 years with the company. I learned a lot, had tons of fun, and met a lot of great people. Not all of it wasย smiles and rainbows, but that’s life. I’m glad to have worked there over the years, and now it is time to move on.

I start my internships next week. Monday at Otterbein’s Courtright Memorial Library, and Wednesday with Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Local History & Genealogy department. I am really looking forward to both of those, and the wide variety of new experiences that will come with them.

A quiet weekend ahead. To rest, relax, and get ready for Monday. ๐Ÿ™‚
