It’s been a fairly quiet week. Helped with more flood clean-up. Got a bit further in our D&D game. And my Sunday shift at MLK. I also went skating yesterday, and thanks to trying to learn turn-stops, my legs are super angry at me. But other than a lot of accidental splits turn falls, it went pretty well.

Another step on the job trail. Fingers keeping crossed. Was hoping to go to a convention next weekend, but looks like it’s not happening, unless I just go for part of a day. But it’s a long drive.

Most of the way through Blood Rites. Added a few more things to my Want to Read list. But everything’s on Waitlist.

Well, I decided to start my study weekend with an Inline-Skating lesson at Skate 71. The teachers and other students were all very polite and kind. Even when I fell and knocked myself in the head… twice… But all in all, it was a good time, and after recovering from the second head bounce with some ice, I did do some laps for a while. And now, I’m the proud owner of this:

Silver Skating Helmet

As per usual, interview went well (I think), but I’ve got a while to wait to see how well. Meantime, MLK Library is getting ready for our Past, Present, and Future event, and we’re hoping to have a great panel discussion and photo scanning session with the community.

Valentine’s Party with friends this weekend. Good music, good chocolate, good conversations.

I Finally finished Mists of Avalon. It mostly annoyed me, a lot. Then I tried David Sedaris’ Holidays on Ice. Which annoyed me far more.  So, I’m back to Robin Hobb and Ship of Destiny. Poor ships, they are not doing well.

January done, and February begun. One more rejection, and one more interview set to go. Today is day 12 in a row of working, so I’m looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend… of studying. 😉

Library is pretty quiet now the kids are back in school. Still busy afternoons, of course, but I only see that on Friday/weekends. Did a lot of grocery shopping this week. Going to bowling tonight to celebrate a birthday, and my nephew’s is coming up, too.

Working on Mists of Avalon, still… it’s sooo long… Almost done, though. Lots of possibilities to listen to next. I’ve got a couple holds, and might just pick a series to continue instead.

Ursula K. Le Guin died this week. And I realized, I’ve never read any of her books. I cataloged some of hers this week, though. So, many artists live in obscurity, and though she did not, I know I should take the time to appreciate more of them than I do.

OhioDIG meeting on the DPLA and the ODN was good yesterday. I talked to a couple new people about their projects. And I got to see the really nice large-object scanner at the State Library. It’s something like This One, but the table is Way Bigger. Waiting to hear back from an interview I had later in the day, as well.

Working all weekend, so a quiet one. Might finish my paint-by-number. If so, I’ll post it.

This week, I’ve listened to Death Masks, again. Tomorrow, I’ll probably do a bit more Mists. Everything else I want is on the Holds list.

We had a great week at the library. My branch had two events, one special story time and one big party. Our community also had a march on Monday that a handful of staff and volunteens participated in. It was a good week of coming together and celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.’s vision of peace and equality, and remembering that some things are worth fighting for.

On the job front, I got one more rejection, and one more interview scheduled. Need to do a bit more looking around after I get this posted. Still working my way through Javascript lessons, and I attended a webinar on Caring for Photographic Collections this week. Coming up is another OhioDIG meeting at the State Library.

I had a nice couple of nights hanging out with friends this weekend. Today I’m doing some housecleaning, laundry, and maybe putting away Christmas, having received my final presents from Amazon yesterday.

On the audiobook front, I finished Green Rider. Then I listened to two excellent books recommended by my aunt, Mary who heard about them from her son, Jonathon: Binti and Binti Home by Nnedi Okorafor. Then, I went back for a bit more Mists of Avalon.

We all made it to the hotel safely. Having good music, good food, and good fun. Later today games on the lido deck with the Captain.

Work is going along quietly now with the kids back in school. Lots of events starting today to Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr and Black History Month.

No word on jobs yet. Pretty sure I didn’t get the one. Waiting for interview requests on the rest.

Reading Mists of Avalon (Bradley) and Green Rider(Britain ) I had to stop Mists because I was getting annoyed with the women.

After a week of baking and preparation, I have had a very nice Christmas weekend. I got lots of cookies in the cookie swap, and this week, I shared them with a group of friends. I cooked up my usual Chex/Crispix mix and shared it with my gaming friends. I exchanged presents with a few good friends, and soaps with a few old friends. I got to visit Alyssa and Noah and then Alyssa and I got to visit Erika and her little one. (Alyssa and I even when to Frank’s for lunch.) I even got to have dinner with Erika, the little one, and Brian. Christmas Eve and Day, I got to spend with my favorite puppy, make a Christmas roast, and eat all sorts of cookies. 😉  On the Eve, I watched Die Hard and Die Harder, Rogue One, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. (It amuses me that there is only one movie between Return and Last.) 😉

In the library field, I only work two days this week before visiting my brother on Thursday (hopefully), and gaming all weekend. (And Chewy.com’s commercial’s doorbell just set off the Ralphie.) I have four applications out, in various stages of consideration. Full-time job in the new year <fingers crossed>.

As for books, I listened to I am Malala last week. This week, I started Mists of Avalon, and for my long drives, I’ve got Summer Knight keeping me company.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and will have a safe New Year.

I have my first “full-sized” Christmas Tree as an adult thanks to friends having an extra one they were giving away. I’ve put up my nativity set that Mom brought back from Haiti, as well. At work, we had Urban Strings’ Quarternotes in to start off the holiday season at the library yesterday, too.

Christmas Tree

My car continues to go through another repair cycle. New waterpump on Thursday. Sprawl is doing well, making some decent progress on the library itself. I continue interviews and applications, we shall see where life leads.

Ran out of time on Mad Ship, so now I’m listening to Artemis, it’s amusing so far.

Fourth Thanksgiving dinner of the week had, and all enjoyed with good friends. Also had a nice lunch with family on Sunday. Was good to see Mom, Dad, Pete, and the kids. So thankful to have so many wonderful people in my life, and such supportive family.

Looking forward to a weekend of silly gaming. We’re using NGS to play various objects in a wizard tower, defending our home from invading animal-featured homunculi.   Should be a fun and relaxing break from work.

Job search continues, and my boss, while glad I’m not leaving yet, is very supportive of my efforts. As are the rest of my team. I am thankful to have such great coworkers, as well, as two jobs that I enjoy.

I am 3/4 done with Mad Ship, and eager to see how Artemis follows The Martian.
