June is done, in about twenty minutes. I’ve got a Ralphie for the weekend, and lots of fun with friends ahead. Including celebrating friends getting a brand new home. I’m looking forward to seeing it this weekend.

This week has been fairly quiet. The supervisors of the groups at the library are getting more organized. I’ve finished the pallet at Sprawl, and cataloged a tote of random paperbacks today. We’ve had a lot of rain, but the humidity is still pretty high.

Fourth of July coming up, everyone be safe, and be kind.

Finished Believe Me by Eddie Izzard, great book. Have started Wizard: The Life and Times of Nikola Tesla, and so far, not impressed with the author or narrator. So, I’ve downloaded a new Jim Butcher fantasy in case I give up on Tesla.

Tomorrow’s the 4th, so I hope everyone has a fun-filled, and safe holiday weekend! Remember, keep your pets away from fireworks.

Not much but, travel recovery this week. The cold seems to be abating, and I have access to my next class this weekend. Had fun with friends and chosen family last weekend. Back on 7ams, so mostly just tired. πŸ˜‰

4th of July went nicely. Had some good cookouts with friends and family, despite the rain and grey skies. Had a good weekend with the pet-sitting. And a nice visit with my brother’s family. We Skyped with my parents, to wish Dad a Happy Birthday. Mostly, the kids made faces at the screen while we tried to talk around them. πŸ˜‰

Packing is going along slowly, but surely as I sort everything out. I almost have the AT&T Uverse situation sorted out, we’ll see if my modem shows up or not, then I have to sort out installation. Apparently, they think they Do have to come and do some wiring, but they’re only available to do so during the hours that I work. Yay, fun. So, I might be sans internet for a few days, depending on work schedules.

Changes continue apace at work, as we try to sort things out back to workable. With so many people coming and going, things have gotten a little out of hand. But we’re bringing it back in. On a similar note if anyone has aspirations of working at B&N, let me know, we’ve got a good handful of openings, including a few lead-type positions. Nook HD/+ prices are staying low, so if you want a cheap tablet, with access to Google Play, come on out for that, too. They’re really nice little(and not so little) devices.

Another weekend with friends ahead, and then a weekend of moving, and a week of birthday celebrations. July is a busy, busy month.

Happy 4th of July everyone. πŸ™‚

Red, White and Boom was pretty last night. Watched it on an old, but fairly sizable TV. Not sure the weather today is going to be good for fireworks, but might go out and see what I can see. Haven’t really finalized plans yet. My usual Thursday events are not happening.

Forgot to go visit my brother last weekend, so take two is this Sunday. Probably including an all-family Skype for Dad’s birthday. Spending the rest of the weekend pet-sitting for friends heading to a convention out of town.

Work today was very slow, until just before I was leaving. Folk finished with the parades and came in out of the rain. Hope sales do well, it’s been a down week. I do have to be back in tomorrow morning, but I have Saturday off to sleep and play with the puppy.

Utility shut off and turn on dates all sorted out, though I am not convinced that AT&T has it right, as I didn’t receive the second emails that I should have. We’ll find out in the next few days, though. Might require another telephone call tomorrow.Β  Books and CDs are packed, just a couple more weeks to go.

Busy, busy life. πŸ™‚

Boise Trip Part 1 July 5, 2012

Arrival in Boise, to 70 degree temps, made me glad I’d brought my jacket. Our first stop with the In-Laws was Wingers, for their Original Amazing Sticky Fingers. Oh, how we’d missed that flavor. Unlimited popcorn, salad, drinks, chicken and fries later, we were happily stuffed. We headed to WinCo to buy groceries for the next few days, and then to Rich’s childhood home for an afternoon of hummingbird and squirrel watching. Busily texting, Rich invites over one of his oldest friends, his cousin et al, and another couple of friends while Gale makes dinner. After a dinner of salad, garlic toast, chicken and pasta, we head up to show them some You Tube comedy until guests arrive. A nice evening of chatting ensues until Rich starts nodding off, and people take their leave, promising to see us later in the week.

The 4th begins with a trip to a juice shop for a double shot of wheat grass juice for Rich and and orange juice smoothie for me. Some more time in the back garden, while we discuss plans for the week and movies we want to see, while Rich texts more people and invites over his best friend. We head inside to make salty carmel ice cream, a la Jeni’s cookbook and have a quick lunch. Then we head upstairs to try to hook up the tablet to the old TV, to no avail, there is no HDMI input on any of their devices, so we start watching Luther with computer speakers attached to the tablet until Chris arrives. We finish our episode and then dinner prep while we all catch up on life.

Salad, tater tots and 1lb. hamburgers take a bit longer than planned, so we don’t make it up to the mountain for fireworks. Instead, we head to a parking lot behind the house where we get a front row seat for illegal fireworks directly overhead (not cool), and have to move a few times, ending in the front lawn of a church, in order to see the last half of the Meridian Speedway (legal) fireworks show.

Today, the In-Laws are back to work, and we’re getting ready to head out in search of an internet connection, as they took the router with them. Lunch at Fuddruckerswas alright, though I would not consider my burger to have been cooked medium rare. Finally found WiFi at Moxie Java. Dinner will be pizza, and then meeting a few friends later tonight. The temperatures are still in the 60s at night, 70s morning and evening. We are getting 80s in the afternoons. I brought a jacket, but I wish I’d brought a long sleeved denim shirt. I doubt the shorts are coming out at all.

I’m happy to see the FB updates as folk get power back much earlier than expected. I hope those still without are doing alright. And that everyone had a happy Fourth of July. Coming up, some more busy days, including my Dad’s 65th Birthday on Sunday. Happy Birthday, Dad!!

This weekend, most of my friends down here will be running or attending Ba-Con. A convention dedicated to gaming, geeks, technology, and, of course, Bacon. It started last year, and is promising to be even more awesome this year. So, if you’re bored Friday night or on Saturday, come on out to the best new con in Columbus. I’ll be in the group throwing the big party Saturday night. It’s going to be a blast.

In other news, we leave Tuesday for our week in Boise. So everyone out there, heads up. We’ll be in town, but without wheels, so if you want to see us, give us a call and come pick us up. πŸ˜‰ Need our phone numbers? Just email. Anyone still gaming? Got big party plans for the 4th? Let us know. We can hardly wait to see everyone. (And for folk here in town, enjoy theΒ  various picnics, I’ll be missing you and the tasty food.)

June is almost over, it’s been rough. Looking forward to a better July.

I didn’t exactly forget that the 4th of July was coming, I just didn’t take it into account in my plans. I grabbed a lot of things that needed done and thought I’d have the whole weekend to do them. I was wrong. I ended up going to visit friends in Michigan for the weekend and then spending Monday at a picnic and cooking out.

I had a great time. It was good to see Erika, Kate and JD, as well as their families. The campfire was nice and the kayaking was a lot of fun. I didn’t even get sunburned or sore muscles. I did, however, get mosquito bites. Which got multiplied on Monday. It’s summer, though, so bug bites are required, I suppose.

As far as the apartment, that got majorly stalled, but I got a pantry rack yesterday and now the kitchen is complete. All that’s left now are the desks and entertainment system and final clean up. We have discovered a problem with the oven – it smells of gas when on (not the stove, just the oven), and sets off the smoke detectors (I guess they don’t just detect smoke). So I’ll be calling in the morning to have that looked at. I also Googled the problem for a few things to check myself if maintenance takes forever.

I’m working on the first full edit of The Legacy of Heroes this week as well. I have enjoyed the play-tests so far, but reading everything in detail makes me want to play/create characters even more. When I get through the whole thing, I may even understand it all. πŸ™‚

Ba-Con this weekend! So that’ll be a great time. Gaming, geeks and Bacon!

The nation’s birthday and my Dad’s this week.Β  Rich back to work and healing well. The new member’s site launched. The new website launched. It has been a busy week, full of work and fun and friends.

I went to a really nice fireworks display, sat in a city park with friends and listened to well-timed music. We ate cherries, watched kids flitting about with sparklers, and relaxed on a warm summer night.

Dad turned 63. I’ll get to see him next month for the big Paige-family birthday party (my two nieces have August birthdays). I called him today, he asked when I was coming up to visit. I’d love to go to the UP for a vacation, and then there’s that needing money and time thing. Gotta get working on that independently wealthy thing, eh?

Bookup had a busy week. We launched the membership system last week with only a couple hiccups. Launched the new website yesterday. I still am not completely happy with the plain blue theme, but Mike likes it. So, it’ll work for now. The member forums have their issues, but tech support is trying to iron them out. In the mean time, very excited that the new systems are in place. Lots of work to do to make everything shine, but it has begun.

Many things to be grateful for. A very good week.
