We’re into Autumn now, cooler nights and turning trees. The days are still warm, but you can feel the change.

Columbus State does a Day of Service each year, and this time, I got to help work on a house for Habitat for Humanity. Hard hat, hammer, and all.

According to our Newsletter, over 800 volunteers went to 83 sites in Columbus. A good day for all.

More teaching as the same really ramps up, with two classes tomorrow. One for teachers and on for students. Looking forward to a couple conferences in October. And…

I got the Grant for Archival things!!! Still some paperwork to do, but other than that… !!! All the excitement!

At home, working on creative things. Learning about drawing and comics. Getting ready for a combo Inktober and NaNoWriMo. Hoping to make a graphic novel of sorts over the next few months, or at least a few introductory issues. I have some characters to explore.

Been trying to finish up the photos, but it’s a lot. Maybe this weekend.

In books… Listened to Cursed by Benedict Jacka, and Storm Front by Jim Butcher, Karamo by Karamo Brown, Naturally Tan by Tan France. Now I’m on The Punch Escrow by Tal M. Klein because it’s narrated by Matthew Mercer.

Happy Birthday, Erika!!!

It’s been a pretty rough week outside, but nothing unusual for July. Makes me not want to go out and do things though. On this, the first community day for a new Harry Potter game. Might still do…

Work has been busy. Boss’s last day. Code4Lib Midwest chapter conference for two days. Meetings and measurements in the Archive. Writing up my presentation for OPAL. All the things with an August 1st deadline. Having a consultation this week with a conservator, then may have to completely rewrite my grant proposal. Still have to create the PowerPoint for my presentation. Weeee, summer!

At home, my skirt is nearly done. Just the hem (which I should have done before attaching the last row, but didn’t), and the waist band, and then sewing the final seem to bring it all together. Been finishing up my coloring page from Girls’ Night, too. All the pretty colorful things.

All the excitement for August. It’s going to be a whirlwind. One conference, Two international conventions, an arts festival, and a wedding!

In books, I finished Ender’s Game Alive, and now I’m listening to Ender’s Shadow. I picked up the first issue of Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins II (both digitally and physical) and on my birthday, A Darkened Wish issue two comes out! I’m hoping to get both signed next month.

Have a great summer!

I hope everyone is having a lovely Easter weekend. I had a nice time with friends on Friday. Now, I am spending time relaxing at home, cooking tasty dinner.

My work week went well. My presentation on Thursday was smooth, and decently attended for the small room we had. The rest of In Service was informative and even fun. I ended the day with an escape room type game that we succeeded at with three minutes to spare. On Friday, we started making more archival plans and I poked through some more photos and even found some pre-VCR tapes.

In reading, I got a bit further in the Alias comic series. In listening, I’ve been waiting on the library, so have gone through couple Audible exclusives. One on Marie Curie, and another strange genie fantasy that I’m not quite done with.

Any rate, hope everyone is well and enjoying Spring, if it has found you yet.

This first week of April has slipped past. Happy Birthday to Mom, albeit belated by the time of this post. Hope you had a lovely week!

It’s been dreary and rainy down here, but getting warmer bit by bit. Might actually be spring soon.

My excitement about the newly hired Systems Librarian has borne out. She is friendly and motivated and we already have Big Plans for the archives.

I am finished with my big study and the fruits are beginning to ripen. I just need a bit more feedback from my team, and permission from Legal, then I can do all the things! This also will include writing a proper professional research paper to be published somewhere, giving a presentation with a partner at In Service, and giving a solo presentation at a statewide conference this summer.

In fun things, I have done more drawings with PubDraw and Babs Tarr:

And the Kickstarter reached the final goal! A full season of animated CR will be released late next year!

In reading/listening, I finally finished The Night Circus. I also finished Friday Black and The Prisoner of Limnos. The first issue of Dungeons and Dragons: A Darkened Wish comic was good, eager for more. And I finished the Captain Marvel volume I was reading for movie background. Next up, finishing the final issue of DIE, another gaming-based comic, and The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater.

My brother’s wedding was really very nice and included quite a bit about not just bride and groom, but the families becoming one. They had some very nice music and the kids all looked adorable. A very large number of his parishioners came out to support them, as well. More than they ever planned on. Very nice, indeed. And was great to see my parents, aunt, uncle, and cousin. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cedar Point was a great day as well. Tried out the Valraven and the Rougarou, both were were fun, but the former very short. Did not make it on Steel Vengeance as the line was very long, and we were making a short day of it. Also rode Millennium Force and the Maverick. The new harness on the Mav is very nicely padded. Did the Gemini, the SkyHawk, the Power Tower (down), and the super high swings and Cedar Downs. Oh, and in the middle of all that, we did take a ride on Snake River Falls, which they have deepened the water since I last rode it. Tiffy took a picture after and captioned it “You won’t get that wet, she said” in which I look like drowned rat. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But hey, we got to watch a nice lady make a glass turtle after, while we tried to dry off in the heat of her forge.

At work, I finished scanning and uploading all the items for our mini archives. I am still waiting on word back from a few places about space for a bigger archive. It’s about to be finals time, and then semester break and when we get back in September, I’ll be officially starting the Use and Usability study.

In reading, I finished Skin Game and Side Jobs, and am still working on Penric’s Demon.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, as well, my friends. ๐Ÿ™‚

July is a busy month for my family. Last Sunday was Dad’s Birthday. Mine is coming soon. (And a wedding after that.) This weekend was a mini Denison Reunion. And yesterday I went to my fleet chapter’s annual meeting. Busy busy busy. Sorry I haven’t been keeping up with this.

Work is awesome. I will be launching my usability study soon. Today, I started scans for a small archival test collection. Also today, I will be teaching my first batch of Freshmen about the library and how to verify a website.

Pictures from Denison visit:

Bookwise, I am up to Cold Days by Butcher. And listened to Ready Player One. I’ve picked up a few random things for later in the year from Publishers Weekly and Booklist, so expect less Dresden in the coming months. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Forgot to post last week, because I was At MarCon. Thursday was setup and welcome party. Friday I worked all day, and got back in time for dinner, crew meeting, and our first public party. Saturday was a bit more relaxed. I got to play Battletech and have more tasty foods, before crew meeting and the big public party. Sunday was tear down and move out, and our dead dog, where I got to play Zombicide and Jackbox quiz games. And back to work on Monday.

I hope all the Mom’s had a great Mother’s Day on Sunday.

This week starts into Summer Games prep, so I spent four hours typing up dogtags last night. (Thus the post today instead of last night.) I won’t have internet connection next Thursday either, but I’ll TRY to remember to prepare a post ahead of time.

Work is going well. I’m getting a bunch of time to work on my project in the next two weeks for MLK. And then we start Summer Reading Club. Which has gone Digital this year.

Finished Lies of Locke Lamora, and got through Stardust. The audiobook is cool because it even has an interview with Gaiman. Then I listened to The Gathering Storm by Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson. Now, I’m listening to Leviathan Awakes by Corey, because The Expanse is a great show.

Spring sprangย this week, and the weather is slowly catching up. Supposed to be very nice tomorrow. ๐Ÿ™‚ Looking forward to warmer weather and flowering things.

Good times with friends over the weekend, even more than expected, but a bit less sleep than I hoped for, as usual. Watched Miss Peregrine’s Home for Unusual Children. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but was still quite good. For cheesy sake, I’m also watching The Librarian trilogy this week. I have also started Dune, but haven’t gotten terribly far, much more time tomorrow to listen.

Looking forward to a busy May, but things are pretty quiet and stable for now. Work is going along nicely. I had the meeting this week to plan for the archival project at MLK. Next step: inventory and discarding or re-homing some non-relevant materials. It’ll be a nice project.

Tonight’s cooking experiment: Garlic and Thyme Roasted Carrots.

First week of down time. Weather has figured out that it’s November – no snow down here yet, but chilly and cloudy. Wind is picking up like crazy today.

Apartment is cleaned, dishes and laundry done. I’m good at cleaning when I should be doing other things. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ย But I’ve also found a few more really good opportunities to apply to. Things are looking very hopeful.

Spent Saturday at BAD OGRE gaming with the Denison Gaming Guild. Played 5th ed D&D, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and two games of Werewolf. It was a great time. Love my alma mater.

Went back yesterday, too. Visiting Fred and checked out the new Library Archives, which they’ve moved to the basement. It’s a really great space, natural light, better shelving in the back room. Really nice place.
