This weekend, most of my friends down here will be running or attending Ba-Con. A convention dedicated to gaming, geeks, technology, and, of course, Bacon. It started last year, and is promising to be even more awesome this year. So, if you’re bored Friday night or on Saturday, come on out to the best new con in Columbus. I’ll be in the group throwing the big party Saturday night. It’s going to be a blast.

In other news, we leave Tuesday for our week in Boise. So everyone out there, heads up. We’ll be in town, but without wheels, so if you want to see us, give us a call and come pick us up. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Need our phone numbers? Just email. Anyone still gaming? Got big party plans for the 4th? Let us know. We can hardly wait to see everyone. (And for folk here in town, enjoy theย  various picnics, I’ll be missing you and the tasty food.)

June is almost over, it’s been rough. Looking forward to a better July.

I didn’t exactly forget that the 4th of July was coming, I just didn’t take it into account in my plans. I grabbed a lot of things that needed done and thought I’d have the whole weekend to do them. I was wrong. I ended up going to visit friends in Michigan for the weekend and then spending Monday at a picnic and cooking out.

I had a great time. It was good to see Erika, Kate and JD, as well as their families. The campfire was nice and the kayaking was a lot of fun. I didn’t even get sunburned or sore muscles. I did, however, get mosquito bites. Which got multiplied on Monday. It’s summer, though, so bug bites are required, I suppose.

As far as the apartment, that got majorly stalled, but I got a pantry rack yesterday and now the kitchen is complete. All that’s left now are the desks and entertainment system and final clean up. We have discovered a problem with the oven โ€“ it smells of gas when on (not the stove, just the oven), and sets off the smoke detectors (I guess they don’t just detect smoke). So I’ll be calling in the morning to have that looked at. I also Googled the problem for a few things to check myself if maintenance takes forever.

I’m working on the first full edit of The Legacy of Heroes this week as well. I have enjoyed the play-tests so far, but reading everything in detail makes me want to play/create characters even more. When I get through the whole thing, I may even understand it all. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ba-Con this weekend! So that’ll be a great time. Gaming, geeks and Bacon!

It’s May, and COLD. Sunny out today, but cold rain is no fun. Supposed to be warm by now. Global warming my foot. I’ve been wrapped up in blankets all week.

So, looking forward.

I’ve started writing down everything I’m eating again, and how I feel each morning. Keep track, look for correlations and have proof to discuss with the doctor next month. Hopefully it’ll go better this month. ::Glares at the stress monsters and locks their closet door up tight::

Rich started his new job and is up to his ears in server issues. But he’s Enjoying it. So, Yay!

I’ve got more scheduled hours next week. So good there. My hands are not cooperating though, shelving is quite hard some mornings. But I’m working on it. My manager is aware, but unfortunately, this makes me first candidate for don’t come in, there’s not enough shelving to do. She’s offered to give me more zone maintenance instead, though, so that’s fun.

First major project complete. Second project is just this month – finishing a story I started, and finishing the book I’m reading.ย  This summer, I think is going to be computer science. I’ve gathered lots of learning links from Wikiversity, MIT’s free online course material,ย  Joomla references, and JSPWiki and I have a couple WordPress books. Just have to sort out and organize myself to make a plan for study. If I could go back to school and get a web design/programming degree for free, that would just be awesome. Alas, they tend to want money for that sort of thing, and a broader course of study.

Last weekend’s Penguicon party was a success – officially and everything. Just a few weeks more until MarCon madness(still need a toga). Then just over a month til Ba-Con(mmm, Bacon…). Fortunately, I’ll just be going to enjoy the latter in a mostly unofficial capacity, I think. Fun times, either way, with wonderful friends.

Things to do, stuff to clean, story to write. Time to end. Until next week.

Happy Mother’s Day!
