I don’t even know if I want to start on politics today. Let’s just skip that and say I’m watching Hamilton tonight with friends online. It will be Awesome.

The work week was full of meetings for me. Team meeting, webinars, and an OER meeting. With the Director leaving in two months, we had to meet with the AVP who will be taking over leading the OER project. He seems like a good guy, willing to listen and learn. Fingers crossed.

Still struggling with my diet, but sticking to my Wii Fit exercises. I’m enjoying the biweekly vegetable delivery, waiting on today’s just now:

1 Cantaloupe (1.0 each)
1 Cucumber (1.0 each)
1 Lemons (1.0 bag)
1 Lettuce (red or green) (1.0 head)
1 Peas (snap) (1.0 lbs)
1 Tomatoes (1.5 lbs)
2 Zucchini (1.0 item)

Now that I read the list again, I think the snap peas may not be what I intended to order, but I’ll figure it out. I am excited for the cantaloupe and all the salad stuff.

In creativity news, I started an RPG Writer Workshop this month. It started on the 1st, and has the graduation goal of publishing a one-shot (short) adventure on the 31st. Very excited and curious to learn. I will definitely post a link when it’s done.

In social news, I’m taking my day off and this holiday weekend to have two socially distant, masked, outdoor visits with friends. Since this all began, I have only seen a couple friends from inside our respective cars. I am, by no means, ready to go to indoor visits or DnD around a table, but I Need to see people in the flesh, and maybe get puppy cuddles, since I can’t have people hugs, yet. Franklin County was a red, going on Purple level alert yesterday. Wear a Mask!

It’s a big birthday month in my family, so, Happy Birthday to everyone in the next week! I love you! Some day I will see you again.

Oh! And I got pre-approval for a mortgage loan! So, I’m on the hunt for a condo on the East side of Columbus. I’m going to have a Home where I’m allowed to do what I want inside! (So long as people outside can only see white curtains/blinds.)

Happy Birthday, Nieces! August 19, 2018

My niece’s had their birthdays this week, I hope they had a great time!

A quiet week at work. I spent a lot of time working on my JavaScript skills. We said goodbye to a coworker who is heading out on a new adventure. And I learned more about using my Strengths in life.

Spent a lot of time with friends this weekend. Went to a grand opening of a second location of a local gaming store, too. This one is quite near me. I even bought my first unpainted mini for a new D&D campaign I joined earlier this month. (And ordered a second.) I then spent a heck of a lot of time watching painting videos by my friend Vince. Painting my Cleric list.

On a similar note, instead of books, I switched over to a podcast this week. Critical Role podcast on Geek and Sundry.

Snow one day, 60 degrees the next, and then freezing and snow again by end of week. This weather is driving my head and sinuses crazy. I even took a half day today. The wrong half, apparently, as a hazmat spill made my drive home three times as long at end of day. I had fun with it though and drove through Sunbury and Johnstown on my way home. (For those playing the home game, that was 71N to 36/37E to 161W.)

I had intended to do some homework this week, despite spring break, but plans and exhaustion have kept me from working too hard. Probably will pick it up again on Saturday. Really want to at least get my web final done Saturday before I go to a couple birthday parties.

Play-Testing of Legacy of Heroes 2 is going really well. The party is now split into three groups, and no one has died yet. Which is pretty impressive for a lvl 1 party. Nearly done with Book 4 of War Against the Chtorr series, Really enjoying it. Soon to be joining the fans impatiently waiting for decades for the final book. I’m looking at you David Gerrold…

For all my friends and family who read these blog (and pass it on to those who don’t), I love you, and appreciate having you in my life, whether nearby or around the globe.

This is my week off between my summer class and fall semester. I have been exhausted all week. Naps after work the last two days. So exciting, I know. 😉

Had a great weekend with my family. Nieces’ birthday on Saturday was fun. Lots of running around, eating, and playing. So much energy they and my nephew have! Their puppy doesn’t like balloons, though. Poor puppy, the house was full of them. Saw Guardians of the Galaxy with my parents on Sunday. It was fun, and silly, and touching. I liked it. 🙂  Some shopping with Mom on Monday. Seriously fashion people, why the heck have you decided girls don’t need pockets??? Pant-fail.

End of the summer parties this weekend. Well, technically, one of the parties Saturday is a birthday, but still. Much fun and merriment to be had with parties and picnics before I start back to the grad-school grind. 🙂

And then! Puppy and Kitty for two weeks! 🙂

Well, it will be shortly, when I post my final response to someone’s paper, anyway. 🙂 Shortened classes for summer session are really rough. But I have a week off to recover before the Fall semester starts. I think both my classes are starting together this time, too. Should be fun!

Family birthday party this weekend for the girls. Happy Birthday nieces!!! And my folks are coming down to visit as well. Maybe I’ll get them to take me to see Guardians of the Galaxy. 😉 I keep hearing such awesome reviews of it.

The store is the store, still looking for a lot of lead positions if anyone wants to come work with me. (Head Cashier, Childrens, Digital, etc.)  Well, for as long as I’m there anyway. Applied to six more library positions this week. Starting to stress over Next fall’s unpaid internship, reminding myself that’s Next fall and it doesn’t matter right now.

All in all, things are good. New meds seem to be working, now if I can just eat better… I bought green things today. I’m working on it. 🙂

NGS! And other things. February 13, 2014

So, the biggest news this week is the NGS (Narrative Game System) Kickstarter began Wednesday morning and we are already 2/3 the way to our goal.

In other news, Happy belated Birthday Uncle John! You are now on my calendar as well. 🙂 Hope you had a great day Saturday. Heading to see my nephew this Sunday to wish him an in-person belated birthday.

In school news, I got a 95% on my first paper. Second paper is due Sunday. The class is going really well. I’m enjoying the discussions and most of the readings. My second class this semester starts Monday. And on the 24th, I get to register for summer session. Everything is going great. Except that a lot of the scholarships are minority only that I’m seeing lately, and the assistantships require me to take one more class a semester than I am planning to, in order to be eligible. :/  Still looking for things to apply for, though. Need to find that bookseller one again.

In reading, I’ve just got the epilogue left and I’m done with the Neverwinter Saga, so I can finally read The Companions, that I bought and had signed last fall. Then I’ve got some Goodkind to catch up on. And maybe Night Angel trilogy after that. Life is good.

So Busy! October 3, 2013

Started my next class this week. So much reading – between the assignments and the bios, and the discussion groups. But I like the class, and the professor – she actually replied to our bios, unlike the previous two. Got an A in the Success in MLIS class. The group project in the Tech class is nearing completion. This week is scholarly resources, and then we’re on to summaries and evaluations. Due on Halloween. All assignments done for this week – this weekend’s assignment – scholarship applications.

Birthdays galore this week. Including my Uncle David. Happy Birthday to all!!! I get to snuggle the puppy for a few hours tomorrow as some birthday celebrators head up to NIN concert in Cleveland. Hope they all have fun, too.

Went to a Career Expo tonight, and got lots of advice on getting experience, networking and portfolio building. Talked to a lot of people from interesting organizations, from EBSCO to ARMA to OhioNet to the Society of Ohio Archivists. Not to mention the OLC, the OCLC, co-asis&t, Muskingum University and Upper Arlington Library. It was a really great time, though I wish the presenters had not disappeared, there were a couple I wanted to talk to that I could not find after the panel was done. I did not, however, meet any of my classmates, must get better at being social.

Spent the weekend with my family. Saturday was the girls’ birthday party. We had make-your-own soft tacos for lunch, and cake and ice cream for dessert. The cake had Ariel on it, both the girls’ names and candles for each of them to blow out. They got lots of toys and books, and had a great time putting things together and trying them out. Adorable as always, we had a great afternoon with my brother’s family, my parents, Jen’s parents, and my aunt and uncle.

Sunday, my parents and aunt and uncle (and dogs) came down for a picnic in a “nearby” park. The map made it look much closer than it really was, but we found it eventually. The pups had a nice run with the big dogs in the huge dog park. Then we went to a picnic area for lunch of salads and sandwiches. A short walk around a nearby pond finished out our afternoon in the sun.

Mom and I did some grocery shopping, and then went to see Star Trek Into Darkness at the dollar theater. Monday, we did some household and shoe shopping, then took Dad to Red Lobster. He and I spent the afternoon telling stories on the couch while Mom napped. Then one final meal before they headed back to the hotel.

It was a good visit.

Now, I’m eager for school to start on Monday. My professors have started posting welcome messages, but they are holding off on the syllabus posting until Monday. I did finally get a name for my tools for success class, a PhD candidate at KSU. Just a few more days to go! 🙂

Learning New Things January 24, 2013

Spent some time this week learning about Joomla! with a friend who was creating a new website. Read my copy of Joomla! for Dummies on the nook ereader app on my laptop. It worked alright, except for the comic at the beginning of each chapter didn’t show the bottom half, and therefore the punchline. Joomla! is interesting. I’ve got some more work to do with it before I pass final judgement, but setting up a site seems overly complicated, though, because of that, site maintenance, updating and organization seems like it will be better and more controllable than WP. Also not keen on the percentage of plugin-type things that cost money. Yet another reason to learn more programming myself.

Birthdays coming up. Aunt Terri, have a Happy Birthday on Sunday!  My nephew is early next month. Still haven’t decided what to get him. Maybe some more erector sets, or legos. I don’t know much about chapter books, and he already has all the Magic Tree House ones. Maybe A-Z Mysteries…

Had a convention this past weekend. Nice, quiet and relaxing, as it was meant to be. Went to a couple panels run by friends, didn’t heckle… I mean help, too much. Just relaxed and hung out a lot. Danced and sang a little at the party to some familiar songs. And cheered with the rest when it was announced they’d made enough money to have the convention again next year.

Work, Eat, Sleep July 19, 2012

Since we got back from  Boise, it feels like I haven’t done much but work, eat and sleep. Thirty hour weeks take some getting used to after months of twelve-fifteen hour weeks. I have done other things, hung out with friends, but the big events are yet to come.

Three birthdays over the next six days. Happy Birthday! The Ohio State Fair next weekend. Cedar Point the weekend after. Then three more birthdays, which involve two family trips. Possibly a King’s Island trip in there somewhere, too. And rounding out the summer at WorldCon, come ChiCon as it’s in Chicago this year.

Tonight, Rich is taking me to a Batman marathon to watch the Dark Knight trilogy all in a row. His birthday gift to me. The difficulty – me staying awake for all nine hours, in a dark room, and vaguely comfortable seat. There will be Icees and probably chocolate.

Sunday is a trip to see my brother’s new house, and play some Munchkin. He’s a bit further away now and trying to get the hang of being a house-husband. I imagine he’s looking forward to the oldest heading to school in a few weeks.

Trying to eat better, as always. Sticks & Twigs pretzels, however, are nothing like pretzels and not even as substantial as the name would suggest. Shelled pumpkin seeds, on the other hand, are far more pleasant to eat. Spring mix and spinach are tasting a bit bitter, need to get more alkalized, but wheatgrass is just not convenient in my schedule these days.
