Hi folks. Big announcement tomorrow, but the ducks must be in their row first.

A quiet week. We had a tea party at work on Monday. Our Teen Guru is moving up to a new position at another building. All the tasty treats and finger foods.

Speaking of tasty… I tried out a couple P.F. Changs’ meals in a frozen bag this week, and they were quite good. Not as good as in the restaurant, of course, because frozen, but good enough for my cooking. I had Chang’s Chicken and Mongolian Beef with sting beans (I also added snow peas, cuz mmm greens).

I hope everyone had a nice Palm Sunday, and will have a nice Holy Week. I streamed the service from my favorite local church. And got a Good Friday service… they’re doing a series and for whatever reason, it timed out that way.

In audio books, I finished Black Prism, and listened to The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott. Now, I’m listening to American Gods, because the show was good. I also pre-ordered Brief Cases by Jim Butcher, which is coming out in June, and bought the audio for A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo by Jill Twiss. The latter is only a few minutes long, so I’ll be listening to it later today.

Snakes and Cats, what a combination!

Anyway, I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday weekend. I went to a couple parties with friends, and now I’m having a lazy Sunday. Found old character sheets that are going to be used again soon. Found one of two needed notebooks for those old games. Updated this month’s budget numbers, and decided I could order delivery for lunch. I should do some cleaning and such, but that’ll probably wait for tomorrow.

I didn’t go skating, but soon, I’ll get to go a lot more often. Yay!

Congrats to my brother, I forgot to say, who is now engaged. More family members, coming soon.

I’m liking The Black Prism, and I have a teen book The Alchemyst waiting in the wings. Watched Zootopia and Emoji Movie this weekend, too. They were alright, just fluff for a sleepy day.

Last week was pretty quiet, lots of snow squalls around here, while other places got buried. Had my usual week of work at the Library and Sprawl. Busy days, and fun evenings with friends.

We’re wrapping up the first half of our adventure on Tuesdays and looking at the myriad of possibilities to come next. We’ll be deciding this week, hopefully, if everyone is able to make it out. More skating to come this Saturday, though my hip is still not impressed with the last lesson.

Finished Blood Rites by Jim Butcher and listened to Wizard of Earthsea by LeGuin, and made some good progress into The Black Prism by Brent Weeks. Interesting use of the light spectrum for magic.

Had my Doc appointment early in the week. We added a Prednisone burst for my shoulder(s), and Arava 3x a week for the rest. I’ll be going for All The Blood Tests Ever for $25 in May to make sure everything still looks good once Arava has a chance to kick in. She didn’t even mention my eye doc’s report.

It’s Girl Scout cookie time, and I got my delivery this week. The freezer is full, however, so I haven’t been able to freeze my Thin Mints for proper eating temperature. Thus, all my boxes are still unopened. I did, however, find a bunch of Cadbury Eggs on sale, those Did fit in the freezer for proper cooling.

Went with a friend so he could finally see The Last Jedi late in the week. Today I got up early to see Black Panther, by myself. It was Amazing and Awesome.Β  Then, I spent the rest of today helping friends clean up a flooded, mostly finished basement. SO Much Water.

I did finish Ship of Destiny, I think it was the best book of the Trilogy. Up next, I’ve got Blood Rites by Butcher, and Black Prism by Brent Weeks. I’m still waiting onΒ  a copy of A Wizard of Earthsea.

Lots of storms this week. But most of the bad has avoided the city. Had fun with friends this past weekend, and finished the Night Angel trilogy. I’ve started a new author as well – Erin Evans series Brimstone Angels. Enjoying it.

Most fun to come this weekend. Going to see the new ID4 movie, and the Main Library Grand Opening, and Half Price Clearance sale. And probably a good deal of sleeping. Fell asleep for most of this evening.

I had a great time last weekend with my Barfleet family. Four days and four nights of camping, delicious food, fun games, silly stories, campfires, singing with guitar and banjos, and 90 minutes of solid, straight, echoing laughter. It was glorious, and the rain stayed mostly away, though we starting wishing it wouldn’t as summer came in and sat heavily upon us. Already looking forward to our fall camp out.

I finished the second book of Night Angel, but now I’m waiting my turn for the last. In the meantime, I’ve been listening to a lot of TedTalks, and some more scifi. Last week was some Bradbury and Wells. I’m trying to decide what to spend my current Audible credit for. Maybe another Salvatore, I’m getting further and further behind.

But onto the big news of the week. I started my new job! I had orientation on Monday and learned all the details of benefits and the employee systems. Tuesday and Wednesday I learned all the things about my job. How to check books in, how to shelve and clean up shelves, where all the things belong, how to find and process reservations, and how to use Polaris and email. This week I start working on my own a bit, and learning the minutiae. Saturday we (CML) kick off our Summer Reading Program – and it’s not just for kids, everyone can participate and enter the prize drawings. So, head down to your local branch on Saturday and sign up. πŸ™‚

My last day at Safelite today. All the weird. Computer wasn’t verifying insurance, and several complicated calls in the afternoon. No word from supervisors this week, more storms keeping everyone busy. Ah well. Looking forward to starting at the library next week. On-boarding on Monday, opening and closing with my new manager on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Next weekend is Camping! with 125 of my Barfleet friends. I have more dogtags to type up this weekend. It’s going to be a really fun time. Lots of campfire and castiron cooking. πŸ™‚ And s’mores. Plus silly games.

Finished Way of the Shadows and now I’m onto Shadow’s Edge. Good series.

I had a really good time at MarCon with friends this past weekend. Some tasty beverages, as usual, from the bar – even the premixes were delicious (maybe a little Too delicious…). Some very good food from both the hotel and Max & Erma’s. I visited the Art Show and the Dealers Room. All full of fun and crazy things. I even bought a new book, though I resisted buying any art – I really am bad at decorating with what I have already. I also played some games, both at the parties, and in the official gaming area – my first time ever playing a miniatures game – Star Wars Attack Wing, I believe – and I didn’t do too poorly at it, either. I did manage to be too responsible/helpful, and got promoted on Friday night, but my friends took good care of me/celebrated with me.

And the week just got better and better. On Monday, I was asked to do some further paperwork for an interview I’d had. Then, on Wednesday, I was offered, and accepted a new job from the Whitehall branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library – Just up the road from me, and half a block from where I had my internship this fall. I start on the 23rd. So very excited!! (Submitted resignation letter to current job today.) It’s part time, so I can keep cataloging for Sprawl Library, while I get my feet wet learning the CML’s systems. Also, looking forward to being back on my feet and moving around on the job again.

I’ve finished the set of Heinlein I was working on, so now I’m listening to the first book in Brent Week’s Night Angel trilogy – thieves and assassins, my kind of book. πŸ™‚

On a more political note, a post came across my Facebook yesterday that I think is very important: More Than 100 Methodist Ministers Defy Church Rules, Come Out as LGBT. Having grown up in the UMC, I feel that it is high time we remember that God is Love.
