One of our Youth Services staff is back from a job swap, so we had a potluck and I made tasty brownies. Later in the week, I had a Valentines dinner with friends and made tasty Dash Chef’s Bread for the first time by myself. I also made Malaysian Pineapple Pizza last weekend, and may do it again tonight, with chicken. MMmmm tasty food… gotta work on tasty Healthy food though.

Today, after all that cooking, is Clean All the Things day. I’m half-way through laundry, all the way through over a week’s worth of dishes, and three trips to the complex dumpster.  Also working on cleaning off flat surfaces in the living room. Sometime soon, I should clean up my office filing cabinet. Also airing out the townhouse with open windows because my last trip upstairs knocked open the gas line to one stove burner for a couple minutes.

I went to inline skating class again yesterday, with helmet and elbow pads added in. Only fell once (accidentally) this time. Getting better at standing up, scissoring, and lean turns and mostly learned a T-stop.

I also went to the eye doctor Thursday. Everything looks fine, my eyes are a little worse, of course. But when I asked how much new lenses are, without insurance coverage, I was told $400. So… Yeah… Hoping my interview turns into a job.

Still working on Ship of Destiny, but it’s really good. 🙂

First week of down time. Weather has figured out that it’s November – no snow down here yet, but chilly and cloudy. Wind is picking up like crazy today.

Apartment is cleaned, dishes and laundry done. I’m good at cleaning when I should be doing other things. 😉  But I’ve also found a few more really good opportunities to apply to. Things are looking very hopeful.

Spent Saturday at BAD OGRE gaming with the Denison Gaming Guild. Played 5th ed D&D, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and two games of Werewolf. It was a great time. Love my alma mater.

Went back yesterday, too. Visiting Fred and checked out the new Library Archives, which they’ve moved to the basement. It’s a really great space, natural light, better shelving in the back room. Really nice place.

I’ve spent most of this past week cleaning the apartment and resting from the run up of events the previous weekends. I’ve got the pretty glassware and china back out and displayed. I’ve got all my scifi/fantasy books on one bookcase(obviously, I need to get more books 😉 ). I’ve organized the nonfiction books by dewey decimal. And I even pulled out the vacuum and brooms.

Why, you ask?  Mom’s coming to visit for the weekend. We’re going to have a great time. We’ve got movies and shopping and eating and even a trip to the spa on the books. (Her first time, and my first mani/pedi.) Some stress relief amidst the unfruitful job hunt.

Still no luck there. Not even a call for an interview on any of my apps, yet. But I’m hopeful, and I keep on trying. A lot of friends have been doing more schooling lately, I’m still debt-phobic on that front, but sometimes I wonder if it would be worth it after all.

Got back to my RA doc this week, too. Got a script for Naproxen, so I can have proper dosage instead of downing a handful of Aleve when the wrist gets annoying. And back on plaquenil, too. So, we’ll see if we can drop down the annoyance some.

On another note: Remember you’re beautiful.

Saturday was the big day. The nieces had their 2nd and 4th birthday party, and all the family came. Five (and a half) cousins, three grandparents, three aunts and uncles, and even a great aunt and uncle. We had fruit and veggies  and chips and burgers and cake and ice cream. There were presents and games and a huge cardboard colorable castle. It was good to see everyone and be surrounded by family for an afternoon. Hadn’t seen a lot of those folks for around a year(since last year’s bday party).

Sunday was also very nice. A nice lunch with my parents and aunt and uncle, chatting and munching on cheddar bay biscuits. Mom and I went shopping after that, wandering around Easton, enjoying ourselves, but having no luck. We went to Walmart after that and found exactly what we needed. The simplest answer, usually is the best. Then a nice Italian dinner that was both delicious an pleasant. We missed our movie, but the food and time with my parents was worth it.

Re-energized by a pleasant weekend, I was able to get up early for a goodbye breakfast and quick stop at a thrift store for pants before they left for the long drive home. I spent the rest of the day being quite productive. Cleaning, taking care of finances, and running errands. Good, thing, too. The rest of the week has been far from productive.

I did sort out the FTP problem, I think. Just need to check one more thing. The school job is out, but maybe not permanently. And there might be a bit of paid temp work I can help out with there. As I said this past weekend, I really don’t mind, to the point of liking, data entry, but I’d really like it to be for something meaningful. I’m a terribly procrastinator, but I’m opening my eyes a little bit wider now.

My back is doing better. My elbow is being weird. And anniversary plans are still up in the air. This month is not yet over. 🙂

Um, yeah, that’s pretty much been my life this past week. Getting ready for the move on Saturday. Boxes, boxes everywhere. I took down the bookcases today. Somehow my 7/16s ratchet disappeared. Got a new one, all better. Truck rented so it can all be made in one trip. Friends recruited so we don’t break ourselves. And a schedule ready to get things done. Now, just the last minute things and the kitchen tomorrow and all is set to go. 🙂

Then I get to spend a few days Cleaning. Yes, my life is quite exciting in the day time. At least my evenings are filled with friends and loved ones.
Oh, and Angry Birds. I still can’t get three stars on lvl 2-12, but at least it plays a lot easier in the Google Chrome browser.

Spring Rains April 29, 2011

The weather has been crazy. Rain and wind and storming all over the place. Massive damage down south, but only minor damage around here. I love spring storms. Listening to them, walking in them, reveling in them. I missed them so much when I lived in Boise. Something about washing away the dullness of winter and bringing everything back to life again. It fills me with happiness and energy. And, as noted last week, the spring cleaning bug.

I always use cleaning to procrastinate, but in spring, it gets crazy. Cleaning closets and emptying drawers, getting rid of the old to make space for the new. When money allows, buying new – new clothes is an odd new fad for me. Hurray for Ohio Thrift end of the month sales. Still ought to get a new pair of work pants. I’ve also got the moving bug this year, I want more space. So, I look around and think packing on top of cleaning.

A quiet week for me. Relaxing and writing cleaning. Exciting things coming up, though. Conventions and a wedding. Rich starts his new job officially on Monday. A regular schedule again at last.

Cleaning beckons, and I’m away.

Oops. I just noticed I didn’t post last week. Sorry about that, dear readers, I imagine it was a busy day and then the weekend swept me away.  I had a terribly productive week last week. I started attacking our Junk Closet, I did a lot of house cleaning, including fixing our vacuum enough to do a bit of sweeping. Friends have given us their old, fully working vacuum this week, so thank you to them. I cleaned out both my desk areas and sent off checks to pay state and local taxes. I emptied our trading account for the time being, until we can afford to play that game again. And I bought groceries for the month… or so.

This week I started creating an outline of a budgeting class for friends who’ve asked me for advice. Sent it to my Mom and got some very useful feedback. Anyone who is interested should let me know if I haven’t already contacted you with details.

Work is work, and the managers find new and interesting ways to torment us. All in the name of productivity. I’ve got two zone maintenance shifts this week, though, so I’m feeling pretty good.

Going to relax with friends in Cleveland this weekend – my official March zag day.  Pondering putting a good blender on my Amazon list – with fruit added into my diet, smoothies are sounding better and better. Especially as my frozen blueberries didn’t turn out nearly as tasty as I had hoped.

Health is doing alright. It could be better, but I think I’d have to get rid of a bunch of stress first. Working on it, bit by bit.

Life is wonderful. I am grateful every day for what I have.

Ice storms, snow storms, cold weather, sparkling trees. It is February, and this is what winter is supposed to look like. I grew up in various parts of Michigan, this really isn’t even enough snow. But now I’m an adult and I have to drive, so I’ll settle for what we’ve got.

So, what’ve I done this week? A very good friend had surgery and I helped keep an eye on him after. I had dinner with a bunch of old friends on Sunday. I bought a new shirt on Saturday. Work at the end of last week was some good OCD time in Sci/Fi and Romance. I cleaned and organized, but was not very productive on  a professional front.

Someone recently commented that they have bottled energy, so now they needed to bottle motivation and we’d be all set. I agree.  Time management might be helpful, too. Not that I think did many unnecessary things this week, but there is always room for improvement.

Life is good.
