I know it’s only April, but I’m really looking forward to warmer, sunnier spring days. I have gotten some sunlight into my office this week (major benefit of working from home), but more often than not it’s been cloudy and grey.

Not much to report this week. We added a floating chat widget to the library site, and now we’re troubleshooting more user error. But it has upped our student contact in a major way. I’ve been handed a big OER project, which, on my end, means checking a business professor’s citations, attributions, and making sure she isn’t breaking copyright. Really wish they hadn’t dragged their feet so much in hiring the new librarian. But it’ll give me something to keep busy for the next month.

On the home front, I made biscuits, and got the gorgeous art from @TessFowler that I ordered.

Three 4x4 prints of Critical Role characters
Cloak, Rage, and Decorated
Eight biscuits on a baking stone
Rosemary Garlic Parmesan Biscuits

This is my life. 😉

Covid-19 is all over the world, the news, the internet. What does it mean for me? Right as of this moment, it means our students are getting a two week spring break instead of just one. It means that, when classes do start back up on the 23rd, they will be mostly, if not entirely, online. It also means, we at the library are looking at all the ways we support distance learning and are kicking it up a notch. It’s a complicated time for our community college.

Personally, I’m just going about my normal introverted business. Finally picked up my comics from the store, and did my house cleaning on the weekend. Didn’t cook anything huge, just some banana-almond butter breakfast bars. I painted the miniature for my weekly DnD game and finished Yasha. I’m trying some things out and still need to get a miniscule brush for facial details. But I think she came out alright.

I finished listening to Harry Potter, book one. Now, I’m nearly done with a dramatization of Carmilla by La Fanu. Next up is The Library of the Unwritten by Hackwith. Next week The Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount comes out, so I’ll have a lot of physical reading to dive into!

Everyone be safe and take care of yourselves!

We get our extra day this month, so naturally, my friends are having a Quantum Leap party on Saturday. Should be fun. 🙂

Weather’s been nasty down here. Rainy snowy mixes so that the snow never lasts long enough to be pretty. More of that today, I believe. Looking forward to spring, but still looking for a proper winter snow day first.

I’ve been busy at work with a couple open textbook projects. Revising the Composition Reading Bank for clarity, and soon adding a table of contents and restricted access section. The history department has revised their two courses, so today I learned how to edit published course material on OhioLINK’s Open Course Content Library.

Nearly done with Our Harlem, by Marcus Samuelsson, which is him chatting and cooking with a bunch of Harlem’s finest. The history imparted is really interesting and important. I have another credit on Audible to spend, so not sure what is next. Though Explorer’s Guide to Wildmount comes out in a couple weeks, and two of my comic series are wrapping up, so I’ll actually be physically reading this month, too!

Not much to share this week, but I promised photos of the first set of minis I painted. So, as I begin set two, here are Vox Machina.

Trinket, Keyleth, Vax, Pike, Vex, Scanlan, Percy & Grog
And their backsides, because I’m most proud of Keyleth’s cloak.

Nearly seventy degrees yesterday, down below forty today. Yay Ohio in January.

We had our last quiet week before students return. Another staff change announcement sent a bit of a panic into it, but we’re working through it. I’m working on counting and organizing photos in our archives boxes. First day of class on Monday. Spring semester, here we go.

Nearly done with my first set of miniature painting. I’ll put up a group photo when I get them all done. I’ve got a very detailed mini for the grand finale, of course.

Starting the new year off with more cooking and more activity. First goal is three physical activities a week, and it’s gone pretty well so far. I’m cooking chicken, rice, and veggies for this week’s lunches as I type.

Still working on finishing up reading Locke and Key before it comes out on Netflix. I just received my copy of Vox Machina, volume one, too. Kushiel’s Chosen is still on my Audible, as well.

This first week of April has slipped past. Happy Birthday to Mom, albeit belated by the time of this post. Hope you had a lovely week!

It’s been dreary and rainy down here, but getting warmer bit by bit. Might actually be spring soon.

My excitement about the newly hired Systems Librarian has borne out. She is friendly and motivated and we already have Big Plans for the archives.

I am finished with my big study and the fruits are beginning to ripen. I just need a bit more feedback from my team, and permission from Legal, then I can do all the things! This also will include writing a proper professional research paper to be published somewhere, giving a presentation with a partner at In Service, and giving a solo presentation at a statewide conference this summer.

In fun things, I have done more drawings with PubDraw and Babs Tarr:

And the Kickstarter reached the final goal! A full season of animated CR will be released late next year!

In reading/listening, I finally finished The Night Circus. I also finished Friday Black and The Prisoner of Limnos. The first issue of Dungeons and Dragons: A Darkened Wish comic was good, eager for more. And I finished the Captain Marvel volume I was reading for movie background. Next up, finishing the final issue of DIE, another gaming-based comic, and The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater.

Crazy weather week had me running around coatless one day and freezing the next. Sorry for the late post.

Spring Break at work went quietly and well. I got to have a meeting about my big project and get some plans in place. We will have an awareness campaign over the next few months and hopefully be able to provide better resources in a more accessible way to all our students.

In health news, my weight is mostly maintaining a slight downward trajectory. I have started seeing a therapist to work on anxiety and self care to keep my journey going in a healthy direction. I have also started writing a new short story and my drawing is improving, too.

I finished listening to Every Heart a Door by Seanan McGuire and now am on to Friday Black, written by Nana Qwame Adjei-Brenyah, the older brother of a good friend. I am also very excited for a new comic coming out this week: A Darkened Wish, written by B. Dave Walters and drawn by Tess Fowler. And also, the Critical Role Kickstarter just surpassed another stretch goal, now reaching over 10 times the original requested amount!

We’re having another day off thanks to Ohio weather. This time I noticed Before getting out of bed. So, slept in and have spent my morning practicing drawing. Getting better bit by bit, thanks to Babs Tarr:

First and Fifth lessons.

At work, I only have one more Card Sort until I am done with my Usability tests. Then analysis and changes to propose and make. We’re also going to be trying out new website software (an upgrade, so not Completely new), which will be great for this.

At home, still working on weight loss, and I’m nearing 20lbs off since I started. It is Con season, so I had some puppy sitting last weekend, and I have a con in early March, that I’m excited for.

In reading, I finished listening to Children of Blood and Bone. Now, I am on Girl of Paper and Fire, by Natasha Ngan. In CR world, I am up to Episode 105 of 115, so nearly done with campaign one of Critical Role. Excited and terrified, but the January throw back episode is coming out this weekend, so that will help. And I might be joining a monster of the month D&D game, too, with brand new kid players.

Day two of no work/school because of the Polar Vortex. I’ve taken it easy, watching Critical Role and cleaning up my house. I even did the Pub Draw working on facial features.

At work this week, I did manage to get one card sort interview completed. I also got started on a new research guide and started preparing for a class for next week.

In listening, I ran out of time on Children of Blood and Bone, so I had to re-reserve it. Now, I am listening to The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. It is super weird. I’m up to CR episode 86, so only 20 more to go. Finished D.I.E. 2 and subscribed to the series.
