Long week, full of things. Most of them were not my things, but mostย were crazy and/or draining. I love my friends and family, and I’m happy that I can be there for them. And I appreciate all they do for me. One of the major me things that did happen, was a friend helped me build a new gaming desktop, to put on the desk another friend had given me. So, Yay!

WordPress says this is the second time I’ve used that Post Title… I’m really surprised it hasn’t been more often. Work went alright, mostly quietly.

Finished Dune, and started Knife of Dreams on audio. If I’m not going to finish Reading it, I might as well listen to it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Barfleet party this weekend, with More Gaming. So, I’m looking forward to that.

Last week, I had three Thanksgiving pot luck dinners with three groups of friends. I have such a great chosen family down here, it’s wonderful. On the weekend, I went to a Thanksgiving party (also potluck) with even more friends. There were over 90 of us there and plenty of people helped set up and clean up. An excellent time, celebrating a season of harvest and gratitude.

Sunday, I helped two friends move in with two other friends. The support we all give each other is amazing. Rich and I have always managed to find our next place to live without hassle, but I can’t even count the number of times my friends have gathered to help people out in emergency (and non-emergency) moves this year.

Rich and I also went to the new Muppet movie for Thanksgiving. It was cute and fun, with the theme of: life is great with people you care about beside you. And it is true. My life is so much better for everyone in it.

Oops. I just noticed I didn’t post last week. Sorry about that, dear readers, I imagine it was a busy day and then the weekend swept me away.ย  I had a terribly productive week last week. I started attacking our Junk Closet, I did a lot of house cleaning, including fixing our vacuum enough to do a bit of sweeping. Friends have given us their old, fully working vacuum this week, so thank you to them. I cleaned out both my desk areas and sent off checks to pay state and local taxes. I emptied our trading account for the time being, until we can afford to play that game again. And I bought groceries for the month… or so.

This week I started creating an outline of a budgeting class for friends who’ve asked me for advice. Sent it to my Mom and got some very useful feedback. Anyone who is interested should let me know if I haven’t already contacted you with details.

Work is work, and the managers find new and interesting ways to torment us. All in the name of productivity. I’ve got two zone maintenance shifts this week, though, so I’m feeling pretty good.

Going to relax with friends in Cleveland this weekend – my official March zag day.ย  Pondering putting a good blender on my Amazon list – with fruit added into my diet, smoothies are sounding better and better. Especially as my frozen blueberries didn’t turn out nearly as tasty as I had hoped.

Health is doing alright. It could be better, but I think I’d have to get rid of a bunch of stress first. Working on it, bit by bit.

Life is wonderful. I am grateful every day for what I have.

Valentine’s Day February 17, 2011

This Monday was Valentine’s Day. A day with all sorts of strange history and traditions and lore. But, for me, it is a day to celebrate love, loved ones and family. This year, for me, it was a day of gratitude. I thanked my parents for their shining example of love and marriage. I thanked my husband for making my life so full and wonderful. And I thanked some good friends for all they have given and taught me. It was a day of laughter, love and affection. And I now also say thank you to everyone else in my life. I have amazing friends and family all around me, and I am forever grateful.

What else?

Nephew’s birthday party is this weekend, more time with the family, and his extended family. It will be a chaotic mixing of the cousins, full of cake, ice cream and wrapping paper. I am looking forward to it, my brother’s kids are adorable.

Submitted a couple stories on Monday, already got one rejection back. I go through cycles of ditching all my old stories and starting over now and then. I really like the two I’m currently promoting the most, but it might be time to file them away.

Picked back up with Elance again. Though I’m having trouble finding jobs to apply to this week. Anyone need an editor/Wordpress monkey? Resume available upon request. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I really do like how Elance has things set up, but I need a few successful jobs and good feedback to get credibility.

I have to find someplace to do my taxes for me, way too many forms and too much confusion this year. I’ve never seen so many different 1099 forms. And I disagree with TurboTax. Thinking Liberty Tax or H&R Block. Any suggestions?

Okay, I think that’s about it for this week. Take care, kind readers. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have an amazing life. Complex, crazy, busy, stressful, and yet wonderful, filled with love and opportunity, fun and challenge, friends and family. I am a writer, introverted, anti-social, quiet and more at home in nature than a city. But I have found something incredible here. I have found acceptance and love, growth and exploration, and a life more full than I ever expected to have. My dream house has a furnished attic with pillows and a big circular window, a papasan and some bean bags. Used to be, I’d imagine myself spending most of my time up there, writing in seclusion and quiet. I still want that attic office, but now it’s for my private writing time each day, when I take some time to myself amidst a life full of so much else. I am incredibly thankful for everything and everyone that has made my life what it is today.

Thank you Mom and Dad, for always loving and supporting me, even when you do not understand or agree.

Thank you Peter, for challenging me to be my best.

Thank you Rich, for loving me and taking this journey with me, forever and always.

Thank you Erika, for making me promise to try anything once and for always being there, near or far.

Thank you Kalyn, for helping me find my voice and my backbone, and for always asking the good, hard and important questions.

Thank you Sage and Shayera, for encouraging me to keep writing.

Thank you Mike, for showing me the sky.

Thank you Chris, for patiently teaching me so much.

Thank you Mrs. Przybyla, for giving me The Hobbit when I moved away in 6th grade.

Thank you Mrs. Heinrich, for challenging me to go beyond my comfort zones, and the easy path.

Thank you Dr. Porcheddu, for being inspiring, even at 8:30am on a Monday morning.

Thank you Denison, for helping me find and create myself.

Thank you Monarchy, for all the good times, and good friends, and good vacations.

Thank you DGG, for setting my imagination running.

Thank you WARPS, for being my home away from home.

Thank you to all my friends and family, near and far, for loving and accepting me, for making my life a joy to live, and for sharing your lives with me.

Happy Thanksgiving!

What are you thankful for?

I turn 30 on Saturday. My parents sent me a card saying I shouldn’t let that make me neurotic. Well, I was not planning on becoming neurotic, but hey, if that’s what most people do… ๐Ÿ˜‰

30 years on this globe, and what have I got to show for it?

A Bachelor of Arts degree in English – Creative Writing from Denison University.

Three published short stories.

Nearly eight years at Barnes & Noble Bookseller, Inc.

A wonderful husband.

A great family, including two nieces and a nephew(yeah, they’re not my work, but they are adorable).

A lot of good friends, many great friends and a handful of Best Friends.

A gaming group that meets every Tuesday – rain, shine or snow.

A body, that even on my worst days, is doing far better than it used to do on its best days.

The basic essentials of life taken care of without too much thought.

A Prius whose gas mileage is a godsend, even when I run around Columbus at highway speeds.

Somewhere over 150 pieces of pewter.

More books and DVDs than I care to count most days.

A two bedroom townhouse apartment in a decent neighborhood.

Happiness, Love and Support.

Had a big update last week, not much has changed since then. Two events though.

I went to Cedar Point on Monday, in the rain. It was fun, we got to go on all the stuff we wanted to, except for the top five coasters, closed due to the rain. It was still a fun day. ๐Ÿ™‚

Wednesday, Rich and I went to my brother’s house. We got to visit with my mom, sister-in-law, nephew and nieces. We finally got to give our nephew his birthday presents, and he was very polite about it. Even explaining later to his sister that we didn’t make it to his birthday, so we brought him his presents now. The kids are growing up very cute and fairly well behaved.ย  Kudos to my big brother and his wife.ย  We gave him two Berenstain Bears books, and we read them each twice in just a few hours. A nice visit.

Rich’s next surgery is scheduled for the second week in June and he will be Very glad to have that done with, if a bit later than we hoped.

Life is good. I am grateful for all my friends and family.
