Sorry folks, I know a bunch of you looked for this a few days ago… I need to sort out this exhaustion. It’s not like I didn’t have time, I just used it to potato.

In that vein, I have started watching Supernatural… which then requires me to watch West Wing before I sleep, though not all the episodes freak me out, they’re getting less creepy, though I’m sure it’s just a phase. πŸ˜‰

On the work front, it feels like half the staff was out almost every day this week. So, it was a very busy, strange week. Thank you volunteens and interns for stepping up and helping out. They had their big party this past Friday, too.

So, that means summer is almost over, our reading program is done-ish (one more week to pick up prizes, though no more sign ups). The YMCA, I believe has two more weeks, but our summertime story times are done, and we have a two week break before the schooltime story times begin. One more week of lunches, before we take a short break before schoolday snacks resume, I believe. And it’s time for me to look for my next career step. One more week before I can apply within CML, and I’m scouring the surrounding areas, as well.

I learned to play the Harry Potter:Hogwarts Battle card-building game yesterday, as well as Xia: Legends of Drift Β with the Embers of a Forsaken Star expansion. Which I’m told makes it very different, though I never played without it, so I’ll have to take their word for it.

On the reading front, I’m pushing my way through Wheel of Time again, I’ve re-borrowed The Gathering Storm on Overdrive. I’ve also downloaded the new Libby app, and have a few holds waiting there, to see if I like it better. So far, I’ve had trouble finding my hold/loan shelf, but only until I figured it out. It’s rather simple, it was just too simple for someone used to menus.

Today is the first day of December, the first day of Advent. The weather, after briefly warming up Tuesday and Wednesday, has dropped down to winter temperatures. Tomorrow, I will be putting up the last of my curtains to keep it out. With the help of a couple friends.

I had a nice Thanksgiving weekend with the puppy. Watched a very good, very hard fought football game between UofM and OSU, on an actual TV and everything (usually, I’m seeing the poorly broadcast Gamecast on ESPN). I also got my haircut in preparation for my interview tomorrow (good thoughts, please). Not a very Good picture, but here’s what it looks like:

New Hair Cut

This weekend looks to be a quiet affair. Possibly going to watch people bowl tomorrow night. And I’ve borrowed some Lego Harry Potter Wii games from the library. πŸ˜‰

I’m a good bit into Cursor’s Fury by Butcher, and I got Harm None by Sellars from Audible to listen to next. New D&D campaign has begun in a haunted puzzle house, so that was a really fun start this week.

The holiday season is fully upon us, and I’m still trying to decide about decorating.

Merry Christmas! December 27, 2012

I hope everyone is having a great week. I had a very nice Christmas Eve with my brother and his family. The kids were their usual energetic selves. Enjoying all the new toys and books they received from us and from Mom and Dad. I read a whole bunch of Dora stories and half a Bad Kitty book aloud to them. We had a very nice lunch of ham, stuffing, green bean casserole, salad and rolls, and later – Pie and cookies.

Christmas day was much more relaxing. Puppy sitting the Ralphie Eve and Day was much fun. Such a good puppy. Rich and I went to see Django, another good Tarantino movie, this one swapping bad guys and good guys from his last movie, with a German bounty hunter (and Jamie Foxx) as hero against American slavers and outlaws. Watched some Harry Potter blurays as well, since our PS3’s been broken for a few months. Rich is solving that problem with Christmas giftcards(well, the bluray problem, anyway). I still haven’t decided what I’m getting with mine.

The snow storm hit hard yesterday, causing slow-downs, shut-downs, and accidents galore. Even our store closed early, and with hardly any traffic through it all day. Today the main roads and highways are much clearer, though some back streets are still skating rinks. But at least there’s some whiteness to our winter now. I enjoy snow on the trees and grass.

And coming soon – Happy New Year!

We’re going to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 on Sunday, so I’ve been reading all the books again in preparation. I know the movies are different and cut a lot of stuff out, that’s to be expected, I just wanted to remember it all correctly before the final movie. I’m starting Deathly Hallows today. πŸ™‚

It’s a busy week for me. Two days of thrifting for clothes. A haircut. (Thank you, JoJo!) Wonderful evenings with friends and loved ones. Meals out to celebrate. A couple full 8-hour shifts at work. Lots of reading, a little writing. Even some responsible stuff at the BMV. Having a great time, and looking forward to spending my birthday with Rich and other friends at an incidental pool party between our birthday lunch and our movie endeavor.

Up next week – probably going to raid Half Price to finish out a few collections with whatever birthday money is left unspent. One more bit of editing for the gaming book. And hopefully some FTP details so I can do some more website work. As well as over 20 hours at the store.

Life is not just good, it’s great. πŸ™‚

The apartment is nearly unpacked. The gaming book is getting closer to print. I’ve almost got the information I need to fix the website. My birthday is just over a week away. I’m on book five of seven. And the possibility of being a librarian that I thought was completely shot, has a dim light reappearing. Things are moving along nicely.

Pictures of the apartment:

The living room.

The back of the living room, note how the bookcases are accessible. πŸ˜‰
And the desks fill out the wall to the left.

And our library upstairs, soon to have a papasan for more comfortable curling up.

Life is good and another cookout with friends this weekend to boot. πŸ™‚

Not much to report this week. Still applying to jobs at Elance, no bites yet, but several still under consideration. I’ve been watching the Harry Potter movies this week in preparation for the release of the first half of the seventh this weekend. Makes me want to sit down and read the whole series again. I’ve got a whole stack of books I haven’t even read the first way through, yet, too. The purported end of the Deverry series – final four books, all in hard cover. The last real Robert Jordan, and then Sanderson’s two. I’m even behind on Salvatore, and haven’t finished Eddings’ Redemption of Athalus, though I’m getting close on that one.

Thanksgiving with friends next week. Then the holidays begin. Ah, retail at holiday. At least we stay busy. The nookColor demos came in this week. Lots of fun to play with. Browser works really well and the picture quality is excellent. There are now 43 magazines available, too. Netbook still needs a new video cable, probably going to have to ebay it. Troublesome little thing, but oh so handy when it’s working.

Much to do, never enough time, enjoy what I have and work towards more.

Week Eight and Birthday Zagging July 29, 2009

An interesting week. I had my birthday last Friday, so I zagged wonderfully. Had watermelon for breakfast, a whole half of a watermelon. Apparently that was a bit too much fresh fruit, as my stomach became unhappy fairly quickly. But recovered in time for Lunch at Red Lobster. Lots of Cheddar Bay Biscuits, a nice House Salad with French dressing, a Maple Glazed Grilled Chicken Breast, Vegetables and Baked Potato, as well as Raspberry Lemonade. Delicious! Then we went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Too full from lunch for Movie snacks. It was a good movie, I thought. Then home to homemade meaty and cheesy pizza and strawberry gelato a la Zack. Both were Very tasty, but my tummy is normally unhappy with dairy, so I didn’t eat a Whole lot of either. Then off to CJ’s for drinks, s’mores, lime tortilla chips and hot tubbing. It was a fairly quiet affair, very nice and relaxing.

Saturday morning I ate a good chunk of Zach’s Irish Soda Bread with soy butter. MMmmmm yum! Then spent the day and night with Rich. A very lovely rainy Saturday. Sunday Mike and I went to Cedar Point, where I had Two Salads, and part of a chocolate covered frozen banana. And I believe I now have ridden every ride in the park. Yes, he even got me on both sides of the Power Tower. Then we went to Outback for dinner and I had salad, salmon and veggies, but also about a loaf and a half of bread and butter.

Monday and Tuesday were stressful, but alkaline, and today I’m thinking about making a few changes to my diet for sanity’s sake. I want to keep doing this, but some frustrations are pushing me to the breaking point. Apples and Bananas I think at the least. I’m tossing around the idea of more flat bread, without worrying about sprouted grain or alkaline grain so much, pitas and tortillas. Simple foods, not heavily processed things. Not looking to go back to junk food, fast food, sugar, dairy and all that stuff. But I need to find a better balance for myself.

Food of the week: Grilled Fresh Atlantic Salmon
