It’s been a fairly quiet week. Helped with more flood clean-up. Got a bit further in our D&D game. And my Sunday shift at MLK. I also went skating yesterday, and thanks to trying to learn turn-stops, my legs are super angry at me. But other than a lot of accidental splits turn falls, it went pretty well.

Another step on the job trail. Fingers keeping crossed. Was hoping to go to a convention next weekend, but looks like it’s not happening, unless I just go for part of a day. But it’s a long drive.

Most of the way through Blood Rites. Added a few more things to my Want to Read list. But everything’s on Waitlist.

January done, and February begun. One more rejection, and one more interview set to go. Today is day 12 in a row of working, so I’m looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend… of studying. ūüėČ

Library is pretty quiet now the kids are back in school. Still busy afternoons, of course, but I only see that on Friday/weekends. Did a lot of grocery shopping this week. Going to bowling tonight to celebrate a birthday, and my nephew’s is coming up, too.

Working on Mists of Avalon, still… it’s sooo long… Almost done, though. Lots of possibilities to listen to next. I’ve got a couple holds, and might just pick a series to continue instead.

Fourth Thanksgiving dinner of the week had, and all enjoyed with good friends. Also had a nice lunch with family on Sunday. Was good to see Mom, Dad, Pete, and the kids. So thankful to have so many wonderful people in my life, and such supportive family.

Looking forward to a weekend of silly gaming. We’re using NGS¬†to play various objects in a wizard tower, defending our home from invading animal-featured homunculi.¬† ¬†Should be a fun and relaxing break from work.

Job search continues, and my boss, while glad I’m not leaving yet, is very supportive of my efforts. As are the rest of my team. I am thankful to have such great coworkers, as well, as two jobs that I enjoy.

I am 3/4 done with Mad Ship, and eager to see how Artemis follows The Martian.

Thank You to all of our Veterans, for serving, sacrificing, and protecting our freedom.

Happy Birthday (yesterday) to my Brother!

On the job search front, I now have a Mentor from SAA (Society of American Archivists), and she’s great. I have filled out a questionnaire for another CML job. In a couple more weeks, I hope to hear on another application. Just keep swimming.

Work is quieter now, with the school season, but there are still the random days off, and the holidays. And, of course, the weekends. With the colder weather, there are more people coming inside to spend their time. I also got to further plans for the MLK archival boxes in a meeting with one of the wonderful community members who helped put the materials together.

Over at Sprawl, I’m still chugging right along. Boss is out of town for a another week and a half. I’ll be tackling the miscellaneous this week.

Looking forward to a busy weekend coming up, including getting to see my family next Sunday.

I finished Ship of Fools and have begun Mad Ship. The series really got me hooked in the second half of Ship of Fools.

Had a nice birthday dinner for a friend last night. Mmm Buca di Beppo. Three more parties to go this weekend: one tonight, and two tomorrow. Weee! Looking forward to a fun time with friends.

Work was pretty quiet this week, though tomorrow will probably make up for that. I have an interview at Main next week. Fingers crossed. They’ve also started work at the new MLK site.

Audiobook-wise, I’m still working on Memories of Light; it’s a very long book. ūüėČ

Fall has finally fallen, though it is, of course, warmer this week than it has been recently. The leaves are turning, the pumpkin spice and apple cider flow. We had our fall party last night, it was nice and relaxed. The week was pretty quiet. Did not get the job, but applied for a couple others. My car hit 200,000 miles this week as well.

I did, finally finish the Robert Jordan. Now I’m trying out a new Robin Hobb: Ship of Fools. The narrator has a quiet, soft voice, and I haven’t quite figured out what’s going on, yet. Currently watching the newest Alien movie.

Hope everyone had a good week, and more to come.

Had a nice quiet long weekend and played Lots of new boardgames. I’m not even sure I remember them all, let’s see: Star Wars:Rebellion, Lords of Waterdeep, Tsuro, Pandemic, Star Trek: Five-Year Mission, The Game of 99, and Run for Your Life, Candyman. ¬†It was a nice way to ring out the old and in the new year.

Finished Princep’s Fury, and Proven Guilty and am waiting for First Lord’s Fury to become available – last book in the Codex Alera series, and am listening to White Night at home. I’m on the Dune waitlist, too. Figure I should at least give it a try.

Two pre-interview rejections on the job front. One interview next week, and one more application waiting. Looking, looking, looking. Full time needed as soon as I can manage.

Life’s pretty good, all in all. Getting together with friends this weekend, and DeCon next weekend. ūüôā

Snow today, freezing temps all day. It must finally be winter, though not officially. They test ran the salt trucks today on the highway. While also blocking off the highway a bit for a Trump visit. Busy day.

Had an interview last week, and received a no, thank you, letter today. Keeping an eye out for more. Full time soon would be really helpful. Otherwise, finishing up one collection at Sprawl, and I have a couple more on line. CML is gearing up for the holidays. Main has a holiday party and a couple concerts on the docket.

Finished up Cursor’s Fury, and had some Heinlein short stories, and now I’m into Harm None. Captain’s Fury is up next.

Pulling out my crockpot lately. Had Beef Stew last weekend. Pot roast toady. Maybe Chili this weekend. Tasty foods for cold weather.

First week on the phones. Day one: WHY won’t the phone Stop Ringing??? Day two: This isn’t as bad as yesterday… Day three: I think I’m getting the hang of this… Day four: Did I do that right? I think I did… ¬†And now it’s my weekend. First week completed without meltdown. Learning new things, and figuring out my mistakes, and being glad I made flashcards for a few processes.

At gaming we finished one adventure and dipped our toes into the next D&D campaign, as we were missing half our players. It was good fun. I see all kinds of awesome trouble brewing. ¬†Finished Methuselah’s Children. Moon is a Harsh Mistress has a waiting list at the library, so I’m on to Time Enough for Love in the meantime. This one’s been a bit trickier, as it goes into long passages about genetics, and the narrator changes without warning quite often, though this is noted by a voice tone change, which helps, but is still confusing. Lazarus is still wonderful, though.

I spent the last weekend working on a To Do list, including a bit of tax refund shopping for clothes and a couple needful kitchen things, as well as a new lapdesk big enough for my laptop + mouse. I also finally cleaned out my “Donate This” corner. I actually managed to get everything done on it, except for finding a new pair of jeans. ¬†This weekend is for putting together a stellar job application for OHC, and relaxing.

I had a good time visiting Erika, Brian and baby Elle at the end of last week, as well as getting to see the happy Grandparents. She’s only 4 weeks old now, so tiny little sleepy, hungry dear, but good to meet her and visit with friends. Went out to dinner with my brother’s family, and one of the sets of in-laws on the weekend, too. Gave my nephew an early happy birthday hug while I was at it. So many children. ūüėČ ¬†But it was good to see them all, too.

This week has been more shenanigans, as I returned home to find my internet out, again. This time it was due to my AT&T modem apparently dying, so two days later, when I finally got annoyed enough to call, they mail me a new one, which raises my bill by a rental fee. Weeee! Customer service lady gave me poor information, so I ended up spending another extra day without net because I missed the delivery. But once I got it in hand, setup went smoothly, and I even did it properly, changing the Network ID and everything.

Found three entry-level library jobs to apply for this week. Still waiting to hear stuff on the dream job(s). I have a back-up plan, come March, but I really don’t want to use it. Fingers crossed.
