Had a nice birthday dinner for a friend last night. Mmm Buca di Beppo. Three more parties to go this weekend: one tonight, and two tomorrow. Weee! Looking forward to a fun time with friends.

Work was pretty quiet this week, though tomorrow will probably make up for that. I have an interview at Main next week. Fingers crossed. They’ve also started work at the new MLK site.

Audiobook-wise, I’m still working on Memories of Light; it’s a very long book. 😉

Fall has finally fallen, though it is, of course, warmer this week than it has been recently. The leaves are turning, the pumpkin spice and apple cider flow. We had our fall party last night, it was nice and relaxed. The week was pretty quiet. Did not get the job, but applied for a couple others. My car hit 200,000 miles this week as well.

I did, finally finish the Robert Jordan. Now I’m trying out a new Robin Hobb: Ship of Fools. The narrator has a quiet, soft voice, and I haven’t quite figured out what’s going on, yet. Currently watching the newest Alien movie.

Hope everyone had a good week, and more to come.

Had a nice quiet long weekend and played Lots of new boardgames. I’m not even sure I remember them all, let’s see: Star Wars:Rebellion, Lords of Waterdeep, Tsuro, Pandemic, Star Trek: Five-Year Mission, The Game of 99, and Run for Your Life, Candyman.  It was a nice way to ring out the old and in the new year.

Finished Princep’s Fury, and Proven Guilty and am waiting for First Lord’s Fury to become available – last book in the Codex Alera series, and am listening to White Night at home. I’m on the Dune waitlist, too. Figure I should at least give it a try.

Two pre-interview rejections on the job front. One interview next week, and one more application waiting. Looking, looking, looking. Full time needed as soon as I can manage.

Life’s pretty good, all in all. Getting together with friends this weekend, and DeCon next weekend. 🙂

Snow today, freezing temps all day. It must finally be winter, though not officially. They test ran the salt trucks today on the highway. While also blocking off the highway a bit for a Trump visit. Busy day.

Had an interview last week, and received a no, thank you, letter today. Keeping an eye out for more. Full time soon would be really helpful. Otherwise, finishing up one collection at Sprawl, and I have a couple more on line. CML is gearing up for the holidays. Main has a holiday party and a couple concerts on the docket.

Finished up Cursor’s Fury, and had some Heinlein short stories, and now I’m into Harm None. Captain’s Fury is up next.

Pulling out my crockpot lately. Had Beef Stew last weekend. Pot roast toady. Maybe Chili this weekend. Tasty foods for cold weather.

First week on the phones. Day one: WHY won’t the phone Stop Ringing??? Day two: This isn’t as bad as yesterday… Day three: I think I’m getting the hang of this… Day four: Did I do that right? I think I did…  And now it’s my weekend. First week completed without meltdown. Learning new things, and figuring out my mistakes, and being glad I made flashcards for a few processes.

At gaming we finished one adventure and dipped our toes into the next D&D campaign, as we were missing half our players. It was good fun. I see all kinds of awesome trouble brewing.  Finished Methuselah’s Children. Moon is a Harsh Mistress has a waiting list at the library, so I’m on to Time Enough for Love in the meantime. This one’s been a bit trickier, as it goes into long passages about genetics, and the narrator changes without warning quite often, though this is noted by a voice tone change, which helps, but is still confusing. Lazarus is still wonderful, though.

I spent the last weekend working on a To Do list, including a bit of tax refund shopping for clothes and a couple needful kitchen things, as well as a new lapdesk big enough for my laptop + mouse. I also finally cleaned out my “Donate This” corner. I actually managed to get everything done on it, except for finding a new pair of jeans.  This weekend is for putting together a stellar job application for OHC, and relaxing.

I had a good time visiting Erika, Brian and baby Elle at the end of last week, as well as getting to see the happy Grandparents. She’s only 4 weeks old now, so tiny little sleepy, hungry dear, but good to meet her and visit with friends. Went out to dinner with my brother’s family, and one of the sets of in-laws on the weekend, too. Gave my nephew an early happy birthday hug while I was at it. So many children. 😉  But it was good to see them all, too.

This week has been more shenanigans, as I returned home to find my internet out, again. This time it was due to my AT&T modem apparently dying, so two days later, when I finally got annoyed enough to call, they mail me a new one, which raises my bill by a rental fee. Weeee! Customer service lady gave me poor information, so I ended up spending another extra day without net because I missed the delivery. But once I got it in hand, setup went smoothly, and I even did it properly, changing the Network ID and everything.

Found three entry-level library jobs to apply for this week. Still waiting to hear stuff on the dream job(s). I have a back-up plan, come March, but I really don’t want to use it. Fingers crossed.

Discovered this week that I did not get the job I was waiting to hear from, when I checked the status on their site. So two more applications out, and a lot more searching has been done. I did hear from my advisor that my internship evaluation is complete and I’m all set to graduate, so that’s excellent.

I also got a haircut: Haircut

I spent two afternoons this week learning. I took two OhioNet Webinars. The first an introduction to MARC records, and the second, an introduction to the differences that RDA brought in comparison to the old AACR2 model. Both were very well done, and informative. I think my notes were as long as the PDF of the presentation. I didn’t get into cataloging classes, so I’m making up for it on my own.

Starbase Indy was a very fun con over the weekend. Mostly spent with my Barfleet family. There was some wandering about a dealers room and an auction, with occasional peeks into panels. We, of course, also watched the UM vs OSU football game in the Lounge. Not as fun for me as it was for the rest of my friends. 😉

A relaxing weekend ahead, and lots more job applications to come, and hopefully some interviews.

Completed both my internships this week. Now, to land a job. 🙂

Halloween weekend went really well. All the things went smoothly and were lots of fun. And I didn’t eat ridiculous amounts of candy. Nor did I buy ridiculous amounts of candy. Good job, me.

This week’s CSA cooking pic, butterkin squash:

November now, conventions and holidays galore. This weekend: Stuff with friends, and maybe a BAD OGRE drop by. Pondering the D&D game and the VtM game, but it requires me to get up and over the Granville by noon on Saturday. I might just sleep. But as I’m not planning on going out on Friday, it IS possible.

Next week, my plans are rest, paperwork, writing (semi-seriously pondering NaNoWriMo), and job applications. Then puppy-sitting the Ralphie. 🙂

Late posting because Halloween. One party down, two to go. 😉

Internships are going well, just one week left. Unfortunately, this means I have to get up and speak in front of people on Tuesday, but they’re feeding me first, at least. Have really enjoyed both of my internships and learned a ton of practical skills.

I need to find more jobs to apply for, I’m still waiting to hear on a couple. Anybody need a tech savvy librarian? 😉 Excited about this new chapter in my life.

No food pictures this week, been so busy. I did a lot of chopping and freezing, but not so much on the eating any of it yet. Anyone have good recipes for a summer squash/pumpkin hybrid?

Life is good!

Sorry about the late post, folks.  This past week has been crazy busy.

Final week of Intro to Digital Preservation has been completed. Final project has been turned in. I fully expect an A in this class. And I actually had a great time doing the group project. My group members all worked really hard and were more than willing to take on responsibilities. My only complaints were nothing to do with the project, having to wait for discussion posts so I could reply to them. One more month of Digital Libraries to go. And then I have just over a month off for the holidays. Spring classes are set and ready to go. Including the workshop I wanted to take. <fingers crossed>

Had a great Halloween weekend with friends. Our three-night party was spectacular, if exhausting. I slept for twelve hours today, and still had to force myself out of bed this evening. Last week’s party was great, too, and Much more relaxing. Next week’s party should be more of the same, though a bit more work as my group here in town is hosting.

Still haven’t escaped the store, so holiday season 14 is beginning. With extra insanity, and tons of new faces. I just keep plugging away, doing my job, and applying to everything I can find in the library-sphere. The main Kent campus had a job fair recently. Really wish we were having one down here, too, like last year. But I haven’t heard anything to that affect.

Life is good. The challenges just keep me on my toes.
