I hope everyone is having a great start in 2020!

I celebrated the turn of the year with boardgames, smoked meat, a cozy fireplace, and friends. It was a nice relaxing couple of days after five days of high intensity DnD with another group of friends. Gaming in the new year was a great way to spend my winter break from work.

Back at it now, with the students not returning for another week yet. Work is always quiet over break, but it gives us time to clean up and rework our resources. Lesson learned from my archives project so far: order twice as many photo and slide sleeves as you Think you need.

I received and purchased lots of creative supplies for Christmas, so I have a lot of creating ahead of me. Other goals I’ve set for myself include supporting other creators, letting nonsense pass me by instead of arguing where it doesn’t matter, to save my energy for where it does, and finding fun physical activities to keep me moving more.

We’re heading into convention season, thank you, Mom, for the assist. I got my car fixed over the holidays from a run-in with a mailbox. My health seems to be on an upswing, and therapy is going well.

I am still working my way through Kushiel’s Chosen, and I’m not sure what will be next. Cryptonomicon came in from the library, but I might just pick something lighter.

Happy New Year to Everyone!

I gamed with friends all weekend. First Rifts and then a handful of board/card/dice games.  Now, I am finishing the night watching football in front of the fireplace.

I hope you all have a wonderful, happy, and healthy 2018.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas weekend. I had a very nice visit with my brother, sis-in-law, nephew, and nieces this weekend. We even played Monopoly (Jr) without any big fusses. It was good to see them all and catch up with their lives and adventures. I spent the rest of the weekend watching my holiday movies: Die Hard 1 & 2 and Star Wars IV, V, & VI. Coming up: A quiet ringing in of the new year with small handful of friends.

On the reading front, finished books 6 and 7 of the Dresden files, and Captain’s Fury. Tried a short story collection, but only got a few stories in before getting annoyed at now knowing who any of the people were, and went back to Butcher for Princep’s Fury.

Work is quieter with the holidays. Not so many people out, hardly any requests for things. But it’s good to get everything caught up and ready for the new year, and long weekends are extra nice for this ex-retail worker.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe New Year’s Eve and New Year. See you in 2017.

Consistently cold weather has settled in. Bits of snow floating around occasionally in the air. There was even ice in the parking lot yesterday. Welcome to winter.

I had a great time last week celebrating the New Year with all my friends. Games, and food, and good times were had by all. My volunteer groups both met as well, to get plans for the new year rolling. All in all, things are looking great for 2016.

Now that we’re out of holiday season, I’m hoping to hear back from my applications, and apply for whatever I can find. I’ve even started a spreadsheet to keep better track. I’m also going to back to volunteering at CML’s Local History and Genealogy department to get some more rolls of the Ohio State Journal Index scanned, and working my way through some webinars.

Halfway through my first book of 2016, as well (Elrics’ were both technically last year): The Summer Tree by Guy Gavriel Key. It’s weird and intriguing… and weird. 😉

Hope everyone is having a great Christmas. I had a really nice afternoon with my brother and his family. The kids were very excited about all their presents, especially the new Wii U, and Minecraft game guides. Pete showed me that Hearthstone is now on Android, and while it taxes my little tablet, I can now play it. I’m spending the evening with Dusty and Ralphie, watching Star Wars IV-VI, and eating no-bakes. MMMmmm tasty!

Had a great Festivus party with friends last weekend, and a nice Yule potluck, as well. Board/card/video games with friends next week for New Year’s Eve, and then Buckeye football the next night, for the Sugar Bowl. A very nice holiday season, work aside.

I did just log in and confirm A and A- in my two classes this semester. 100% on both my digital collections. The term paper is what pulled me down a few points.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I hope every is having a good 2013 so far, and had a safe celebration of the turning of the year. I had a great time with friends who live nearby. We spent the day smoking pork, and watching Fringe, among other things. Then went to a party that was half New Year’s and half goodbye for the house owner who is moving to Chicago. Many well wishes to him and his fiance.

I have updated my resume (more polish to come, as always), and my job searches with an aim towards Web Content Management/Development/Editing type jobs. Rich is still busily applying to jobs and looking for new opportunities. On a more personal level, I’m hoping to spend more time writing and learning web design this year.

28 Steps and a New Pair of Shoes January 5, 2012

So, the escalators have been down all week at work. There are 28 steps between the first floor and the second floor, I counted on about the tenth trip up. Down isn’t bad at all, but working the information desk all week has put me up those steps so many times. Though our General Manager has a point, our butts will be nice and toned by the time they’re fixed.

Unfortunately, to make matters worse, I also did a rush job of buying new shoes on Monday. And got shoes that squeeze my feet just below the toes. I have to take them back, but until then, I’m working with numb pinkie toes and some serious discomfort in my left foot. Lessons learned… even if I don’t like shoe shopping, I should take more time to do it.

Had a good New Year’s Eve partying with friends and then have a nice relaxed evening on New Year’s Day with some same and some other friends. 2012 is starting out well, with plans not only being made, but set into motion. As with every year, we are determined to make this one better than the last.

Struggling to eat properly. It’s winter and I want warm comfort food, not raw salads. Fresh veggies to cook are also harder to find in good quality. I need new and exciting recipes or something. Hours are going to start dropping at the store soon, so that might give me more time to make proper food choices.

I don’t have many hours at the store this week, so I made a huge To Do list and have been checking things off and adding to it all week. I have done banking, budgeting, laundry, dishes, filter replacement, research, writing, reading, cleaning, grocery shopping, metrics and database upkeep. Found out my humidifier is broken – had not tried to turn it on in a few years, now it does nothing when I plug it in. I still have bills to pay and shopping to do, more research, more writing, more banking, and always more laundry.

But it is a New Year, and what does that mean for me? Last year was quite the ride, financially, medically, emotionally, and everything else. This year, I am working on an up-swing. I’m sure it will be another crazy rollercoaster, life always is. But I have goals in mind, and motivation to work toward them. People tease me about To Do lists, but it keeps me on top of things, and being productive. As always, I look to make this a better year than the last, and am grateful for everyone in my life who helps me keep moving forward.
