So, apparently cabins in the Hocking Hills must be rented for two nights at a time on summer weekends. There goes that anniversary idea. We’ll have to take a look at what’s available more locally in the way of a cheap but fun getaway. Too bad about the heat, or we could hit the Ren Faire. We’re saving that for cooler days, though.

Looking forward to seeing all the family on Saturday. Birthday cake, ice cream, children playing and maybe even a round or two of Munchkin. 😉 Have to buy presents at work tomorrow. Yay, last minute shopping.

Hurt my back last week, went to the chiropractor. My spine is apparently lovely, but my hips are crooked. Knew that, we’re working on fixing it. Back finally feels better today.

Getting bored of food again. Wanting more variety. Craving cheese(pizza, mac & cheese, Parmesan covered pasta) a lot lately, too. Joints about the same as always. Not terrible, but not ideal.

The school jobs are a total no-go. I am once again pondering data entry. I’ve only ever done bits of it at my jobs, but I wonder about doing it full time(or ya know, part time, I like flexible schedules). It just doesn’t seem like it’d be fulfilling, unless it was at a really good place. Inertia tends to win. Especially when I have ‘decent’ hours at work and only tiny bits of non-retail experience.

Lots of rambling today, I think I’m done now. See you next week.

Halloween Week October 30, 2010

Tomorrow is Halloween and I think I will spend most of it sleeping. It’s been a long week of work and parties, and I’ve got one last one tonight. Spent a lot of the week helping gather materials, set up, and tear down. Sorry about missing Thursday, I was driving to and from Dayton in the morning, getting ready for the evening all afternoon, and then, well, the party that night was epic. Somewhere around 1500 people at the event. Last night was really low key in comparison. I’m hoping that tonight is somewhere in the middle.

On a work front, Rich’s schedule is shifting to allow him Friday and Saturday off, but staying on the same shift. That’ll be cool, for him to have a weekend when everyone else does. I haven’t heard back from either of the jobs I sent proposals to, but I’ll be finding some more to submit to tomorrow. With the arrival of holiday payroll, I have more hours at the store this week. Mike and I are getting things organized for my work at Bookup. I’m looking to take on a list of very specific projects and get more organized to see if we can get even better results.

Health-wise I’m doing fairly well. Staying up for 46 hours actually had me moving with ease and mostly painless. It’s those 8 hours of lying still to sleep that make me the most stiff. Haven’t figured out a solution to that yet. Any suggestions? Had a full zag day on Thursday – nutty pancakes and bacon for lunch, Hound Dogs pizza for dinner and chocolate pancakes, bacon and an English muffin for breakfast. Delicious. But salads are good for me, and back on track I go. I need to do some recipe research and reread the pH Miracle again, at least the wife’s parts on cooking and the pantry.

So much to do, and running low on time.

Rich and I celebrated our Sixth Anniversary yesterday. We went out to lunch at Buca de Beppo (thanks Mom and Dad). Mozzarella Garlic Bread, Caesar Salad, Chicken Parmesan, Fettuccine Alfredo and Tiramasu. Then we saw The Expendables on an Ultra Screen. It was a pretty straight forward action movie, lots of big names, good fun. We had Papa Murphy’s BBQ Chicken Pizza and Cookie Dough for dinner and spent the evening watching Leverage. I’ve always been a fan of heist movies, and I loved the A-Team. Leverage is a combination of both in the modern world, going after corporations. It makes me happy. We had a good day together, and many more days and years to come.

So, all these ideas floating in my head. All these ideas flowing out onto my blog, or in my journals. Business ideas, product ideas, website ideas, writing ideas, education ideas, financial ideas. But idea alone don’t get me anywhere. I need to make plans, decide on steps, break them down into manageable bits instead of grandiose ideas that intimidate me just to look at them. Whenever a phrase comes to mind about time, in this case: time is at a premium, another quote comes to mind: Time is the Fire in which we Burn – from Star Trek Generations, the villian Soran, referencing a poem by Delmore Schwartz. I am so busy already, that I trying to make the time for new things is often overwhelming.

Rich gave me a career change suggestion the other night that I am considering looking into. Retail is not what I want to do with my life, but I do love books and stability. I just don’t know if it is a feasible move given my schedule and per hour requirements. It could be, though.  Mike asked me about working for him “full time.” We are still negotiating what that means and the pros and cons of it.

Health was a bit rocky the last few weeks, my shoulders were complaining loudly and constantly, so I ended up on a Prednisone burst to calm them down. Back off it now, and feeling better, but not 100% yet. Got a few mosquito bites last night, but given it’s August, I was probably due.

Made spelt bread this week, just finished it up today. It’s thick and heavy, but with a bit of garlic and oregano, it’s fairly tasty. Pondering a cheese-less spelt pizza in my near future, with spinach and broccoli. Had one from whole wheat the other day at Whole World and it was very good. Probably doing sweet potato, asparagus and broccoli for dinner tonight.

Life is good.

Wow, twelve weeks. And I’m feeling great. Still no drugs taken, still haven’t called my doctor. Still struggling with cravings. But, I got to have my Zag day for our Fifth Anniversary. Went to TGIFriday’s and had potstickers and Sesame Jack Chicken Strips and delicious lemonade. Had some chocolate covered cookie dough at the theater, but it wasn’t as wonderful as I’d hoped. Had beef and noodle stir fry at Benihana for lunch, and Papa Murphy’s pizza for dinner. It was a good zag day and it didn’t even hurt that much. Had a good weekend with family, ate well with my Aunt and Uncle and at my brother’s place. Avoided the junk food and had a good time.

Food of the week: The broccoli and sesame seed salad base Mom made.

An interesting week. I had my birthday last Friday, so I zagged wonderfully. Had watermelon for breakfast, a whole half of a watermelon. Apparently that was a bit too much fresh fruit, as my stomach became unhappy fairly quickly. But recovered in time for Lunch at Red Lobster. Lots of Cheddar Bay Biscuits, a nice House Salad with French dressing, a Maple Glazed Grilled Chicken Breast, Vegetables and Baked Potato, as well as Raspberry Lemonade. Delicious! Then we went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Too full from lunch for Movie snacks. It was a good movie, I thought. Then home to homemade meaty and cheesy pizza and strawberry gelato a la Zack. Both were Very tasty, but my tummy is normally unhappy with dairy, so I didn’t eat a Whole lot of either. Then off to CJ’s for drinks, s’mores, lime tortilla chips and hot tubbing. It was a fairly quiet affair, very nice and relaxing.

Saturday morning I ate a good chunk of Zach’s Irish Soda Bread with soy butter. MMmmmm yum! Then spent the day and night with Rich. A very lovely rainy Saturday. Sunday Mike and I went to Cedar Point, where I had Two Salads, and part of a chocolate covered frozen banana. And I believe I now have ridden every ride in the park. Yes, he even got me on both sides of the Power Tower. Then we went to Outback for dinner and I had salad, salmon and veggies, but also about a loaf and a half of bread and butter.

Monday and Tuesday were stressful, but alkaline, and today I’m thinking about making a few changes to my diet for sanity’s sake. I want to keep doing this, but some frustrations are pushing me to the breaking point. Apples and Bananas I think at the least. I’m tossing around the idea of more flat bread, without worrying about sprouted grain or alkaline grain so much, pitas and tortillas. Simple foods, not heavily processed things. Not looking to go back to junk food, fast food, sugar, dairy and all that stuff. But I need to find a better balance for myself.

Food of the week: Grilled Fresh Atlantic Salmon
