Last week was pretty quiet, lots of snow squalls around here, while other places got buried. Had my usual week of work at the Library and Sprawl. Busy days, and fun evenings with friends.

We’re wrapping up the first half of our adventure on Tuesdays and looking at the myriad of possibilities to come next. We’ll be deciding this week, hopefully, if everyone is able to make it out. More skating to come this Saturday, though my hip is still not impressed with the last lesson.

Finished Blood Rites by Jim Butcher and listened to Wizard of Earthsea by LeGuin, and made some good progress into The Black Prism by Brent Weeks. Interesting use of the light spectrum for magic.

Snow today, freezing temps all day. It must finally be winter, though not officially. They test ran the salt trucks today on the highway. While also blocking off the highway a bit for a Trump visit. Busy day.

Had an interview last week, and received a no, thank you, letter today. Keeping an eye out for more. Full time soon would be really helpful. Otherwise, finishing up one collection at Sprawl, and I have a couple more on line. CML is gearing up for the holidays. Main has a holiday party and a couple concerts on the docket.

Finished up Cursor’s Fury, and had some Heinlein short stories, and now I’m into Harm None. Captain’s Fury is up next.

Pulling out my crockpot lately. Had Beef Stew last weekend. Pot roast toady. Maybe Chili this weekend. Tasty foods for cold weather.

This past weekend the weather went completely nuts, and I had to drive through blinding snow to get home Saturday night. I had to pull over twice because I couldn’t see the front of my car. Fortunately, I had a passenger along to keep me calm.  And take pictures:

SnowStorm

Sunday at work, was a more relaxed day, but still decently busy. This week I’ve gotten more comfortable on the phone. Still have questions now and then. Starting next week, I’m officially on a team. I hope to meet my Job Coach on Monday. 😉

Finished Time Enough for Love last night and was very nearly, very angry. Next up, Moon is a  Harsh Mistress. I got it just in time from the library wait list. Also working my way through season 2 of Daredevil on Netflix.  Tuesday we got a bit further in our new D&D campaign as our MechWarrior GM has a brand new, super adorable puppy, so he was a bit distracted.

I’ve got a big crockpot full of turkey chili simmering for tonight (anyone want to come over?), and a cocktail party with friends tomorrow night. Looking to be a very good weekend before I get back to work on Monday. I do have to finish lunch and get to Sprawl soon to finish out my workweek.

Weather is crazy as usual down here in Ohio. It’s currently snowing as I type this, with rain in a bit, then go back to snow… it was 60 degrees earlier this week. Spring is just a nice day away.

So, really enjoying cataloging old sci fi at The Sprawl Library. Found a few more interesting titles this week: Muddle Earth (John Brunner), Fallible Fiend (L. Sprague de Camp), and Gremlins, Go Home! (Ben Bova and Gordon R. Dickson). And you’d think I’d have time to read them, but wait, there’s more.

Today I got a job with Safelite Auto Glass, as a part-time Customer Service Rep. I start training on the 14th, and regular schedule two weeks later… given my background check and pre-employment screening come back clean. As I’ve worked for a school before, not worried about any surprises showing up there.

So, yeah… I’ll soon be super busy. But, happily so. The schedules don’t match up perfectly, but well enough that I can keep helping out at Sprawl while also earning enough to keep afloat. They tell me it’s easier to get a job when you already have one, which seems to be true, let’s see how well that continues.

My nephew’s birthday was Wednesday. A snow day from work meant I got to call him in the morning to wish him well. He said they’d already gotten to play in the snow that morning and might go out again. Ah childhood.

I drove home in the snow Tuesday night, and got here nice and safe, only to get stuck in the parking space that was left. But it was late, so I left it. This evening, while trying to figure out if I was going anywhere, I cleaned off the car and discovered that I was still stuck. Some rocking, some melt and some cardboard were no help. A friend came to my rescue however, and I got out to a more level, less icy spot in the street.

Had a good weekend of editing and movies with friends. Class is going well, have one volunteer for my next project. Need one more. I cleaned my apartment yesterday, and applied for more library jobs. I even updated my linkedin profile, for all the good that’ll do me. Store is still trying to rebalance the shipping nightmare, but it meant I got more hours today.

All is well in this winter Ohio-land.

Started snowing again today. They say its going to snow all weekend. I like winter better when there’s snow on the ground. Seems more comforting than just biting wind and overcast skies.

My Access to Information class started this week. Looks like it’s going to be a very interesting, and challenging class. The big projects get progressively bigger in length and scope as the semester goes on.  Looking forward to the practical side of things, which she says we’ll get to after the first month or so.

Suspended my Ancestry.com account this week, until my next break in courses. I can still see the tree I made, I just can’t search up any more documentation until I pay them again. I just don’t have the time to spend on it with classes going again. Did find some more of my Mom’s roots, including some kings of Brittany and one of the Norman noble invaders of England in 1066.

DeCon this weekend, should be a blast. Can’t wait to relax and hang out with friends. Heading to move gear to the hotel shortly.

Still no winter. There Was snow one day, but it melted the next and didn’t really affect much. It’s in the mid forties this week, and though the forecast said rain, it’s bright and sunny out right now. I don’t mind not having bad driving conditions, but I like having some nice snowy days.

Mirena this week. One defective device, and five attempts and I’m all set. They tell me that in three months I’ll be grateful. That’s the plan body, stick to it.

Finished watching Numb3rs. Good show. Got some reading in, almost done with The Ghost King. Started playing the free starter edition of WoW. It’s really restricted, but I get to see what happened to the world since Cataclysm hit. At least the lower level parts of the world.

Starting to plan our summer trips. And by starting, I mean acknowledging where and when we want to go. 😉  I also sent in for a new passport yesterday. No idea when I’ll get to use it, but better now than when already planning a trip and needing it in a hurry.

Rich just got his tablet. I’m enjoying the netbook, using it next to the desktop a lot these days and wishing I had a multiple screen setup. Some day, when we have a house and more space. Ah, dreams. 🙂

And it’s raining. So much rain this week. Winter has started with a week of 50+ degree weather and rain storms. Not even fun rain storms. No lightning or thunder, just wet. Not that I really want to drive in snow, but I really don’t like driving in rain either. And people are just as accident prone, either way.

Busy, busy work days. It makes the time fly by, but also makes breaks hard to come by. Lunch, no problem, but the 15s didn’t happen today. There’s just no way to have enough people working to take care of all the customers, so I just run from one to the next for 4 hours at a time. (Lunch break in the middle of the 8 hour shift.)  Only have had one really cranky customer myself so far, and as it wasn’t my fault, so I passed it off to a manager without a guilty conscience.

Got the last bit of wrapping I needed, and will probably be making more Chex Mix tonight. I wanted to make stuffing, maybe next week. I do not want to brave the stores the next couple days any more than my work schedule requires. Looking forward to Christmas dinner with my Brother and family. Also looking forward to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Everybody have a Merry Christmas this weekend. 🙂

It snowed yesterday and been cold all week. March going out like a lion, hopefully means much better weather next week. It’s Ohio, I don’t figure we’re fully out of snow season until May, but still hoping April is good and warm.

Lots of birthdays the first week of April. My Mom, and two good friends in the first four days. Happy Birthday everyone. 🙂

I was chatting with Rich today about work and how much I appreciated him working a job he hates to keep us afloat, and he commented I was doing the same thing, I just wasn’t getting hours. But that’s not true. I do like my job. I like working at the bookstore. What I don’t like is the pressure from Corporate to meet seemingly unreasonable performance goals. I know the market is tough and we have to make a profit, but ever increasing goals can become unreasonable for anyone.

Rich’s getting more interviews lately, so we’re carefully hopeful. I found a possible new place to live come June, 550 more square feet for $150 less a month. Going to check it out soon, see if it’s too good to be true, or if we’re going to apply.

I continue to fight with my body, and my diet. But I’m doing pretty well. A little Naproxen here and there is far better than what I used to do.  Just wish my elbow would behave.

Occasionally pondering starting a web design business and changing HydyPaige.com or registering another domain for a portfolio of what I can do. I really like WordPress and am pondering taking the time to learn it better and learn Joomla. One thing at a time. That might be my next big project. I work better with deadlines.

So, another month down, 9 more to go. 🙂

Shots in the dark are still waiting to land. Insurance reconsidered the bill, so they really do owe us money, so that’ll help pay other bills. Another friend considering hiring me for web design. And the gift of a blender from someone who found she did not need to keep hers. A decent week, all in all.

I’ve felt rather fidgety all week. The weather won’t make up its mind if it is spring or not yet. Yesterday, most of all. It went from 70 degrees and sunny, to windy and overcast with tornado watches, to pouring down rain, to hailing, back to 70 degrees and sunny and then down to freezing and snow. I feel like that, too. I’m on the verge of new beginnings, but I keep going backwards or round in circles, not quite ready to take that last, fully committed step into Spring. I still have the lethargy of winter hibernation tugging at me, whispering sweet dreams in my ears, if only I’d lay back down.

So much to do, so little time. I have to wake up now and get moving. Set deadlines, meet goals, create the life I want to live. All that stuff I keep talking about. Time to Do.
