We had freezing From Monday through Wednesday morning. I chipped my car out of the ice twice, went out both Monday and Tuesday nights, and yet, it was Wednesday night when I slipped and fell on the ice, when it had a nice coating of snow on top of it. I am so talented. I am alright, though, hip is a little tender, but not bad at all, considering I was carrying a large box at the time. The storms did not take our power or even our internet, though some of the trees are worse for the wear. We were lucky this week.

I’m still coughing, one week into ten days of antibiotics, and it’s still clinging to my lungs. Other than that, and cranky shoulders, I’m doing pretty well, health wise. It seems to be the time of surgery for my friends, several wisdom teeth and a shoulder, so good and healing thoughts to all of them.

I finally got back to Elance, applying to five jobs on Monday. No response yet, but most of them had another week of open applications. Spent some time looking at openings in town, but most of the ones I found listed were for managerial positions and required teaching experience, degrees in subjects I don’t have or experience I don’t have. I haven’t given up on the store yet, but some days, I think a better paycheck would be nice. Other days I think the internet is the way to go, if only I could get a brilliant idea that a few thousand people would pay for on a monthly basis. Some day maybe, eh? It’s good to have dreams.

Somehow this one only got saved as a draft on December 9th instead of posted… So here’s that week’s post, and I’m working on this week’s….

It has been snowing and cold for the last week. Really cold. Below freezing most of the time cold. The snow has not been much around here. Dustings, really. But enough that people have had their usual bout with learning how to driving in snow for the year. Not that they will get a whole lot better, but at least they’ve had a reminder. My front lawn was half snow dusted, half still green in the bright shining sun today. It actually looked pretty neat.

Not a lot going on. Christmas shopping for the nieces and nephew complete. Schedule for when we get to deliver them still up in the air. Plans for our Christmas dinner and movie still incomplete as well. Just biding our time and trying not to let the year speed to a finish quite yet.

I got my copies of Daily Bites of Flesh yesterday. My first story published in a real bound book. So, that’s pretty cool.

Lots of hours at the store this month, so that’s good, but leaves me tired with all the early mornings. Hopefully I’ll have something more interesting to say next week.

Storms and snow and sleet and rain and ice and wind. Welcome to winter in Ohio. I don’t know what the official numbers are, but the path through the snow to our parking lot comes up almost to my knees. Not the several feet of snow the papers were reporting further east, but plenty to make life interesting. Once again pondering the Z, but no more answers than we had before. We’re going up this weekend to wish our nephew a belated 4th birthday, apparently we weren’t the only ones that missed the party last week.

Elbow aside, my health is stable. Work is fairly stable, too. Waiting on the tax return to start shifting money and making a couple purchases. Got my car serviced today, had to replace all my windshield wipers, the ice has not been kind to them. Also got a taillight replaced, I think that was the most expensive part of the operation. But it’s done now, no more worrying about getting pulled over for a burnt out lightbulb.

Have discovered spring rolls. Now if only PF Chang’s didn’t have huge mushrooms in them, it would be perfect.

Finally got all our paperwork and had a free afternoon. I sat down today and did our taxes. We owe the state a little bit, but we’re getting quite a good chunk back from the Federal Government. We’ll be able to get everything on an even keel, and maybe even get a nice thing or two we’ve been putting off. We’ll definitely be able to get a comfort buffer back in the checking account. And I’ll feel good about getting back into investing. I love numbers, especially when they all balance out nice and happy.

I’ve had some great fun working on Bookup’s membership site. It’s not quite ready, yet, but it’s going along and we’re figuring it out. I heart WordPress, just in case you didn’t know. I need to learn a little bit more about making Themes, or at least making Themes work for me, but Mike is far less concerned by the Membership side looking pretty than he is getting it to work. He’s also beta testing a new product version that, when the kinks are all out, will be a great asset.

Big storm set to arrive tomorrow, ah Ohio in February. 🙂

Two of Five W2s have arrived, the rest should be here this week, right? Right?? I really want to get taxes taken care of, so I know where things stand. I don’t trust unemployment to have not messed us up. I have info to download from three different banks, but I don’t know that any of them amount to much. Not until next year anyway, when we get hit for the liquidation of Ameriprise, though we had him hold some of that back in preparation. I don’t like waiting for paperwork to arrive.  I want to do it now.

I have a few stories still out right now, too. Two are passed the “query if you haven’t heard by…” dates, but with the holidays I’ll wait a little longer before I do.

Things over at Bookup are moving along. We’re actually setting up a membership site now, and it’s going to be SO pretty. And there will be working forums and a helpdesk that actually gets answered. Mike’s working on getting a new version of the product out as well, that will be really cool when it’s ready.

Barnes & Noble is having some major managerial shifting, so things are a little up in the air, there. I’m sitting at three days/15 hours a week right now. I don’t know if that’s going to change, but I don’t see it going up any, that’s for sure.

We had a nice little break in the weather, but we’re back to snow again, now. Pretty snow. 🙂

Things are moving forward, bit by bit. I’m keeping up and waiting for more storms to hit. Hopefully a few with silver linings. Life is good.
