Did a better job of time-management this week, so I’m actually posting on Thursday. Good job, me.

Not much going on, though. Reported my weekend when I posted on Sunday. Final week of the Summer Reading Club, for the procrastinators. Raffle prizes being picked up. I’ve still got most of my coupons to use. Some of my coworkers are planning a boardgame night sometime.

I’m alone at Sprawl this month. Going through the last few totes of random things, then a couple boxes. I’ve got all of the Glen Cook collection to go through when I’m done.

I finished The Gathering Storm, and now I’m listening to Mockingjay while I wait for my holds to come through.

Hope everyone had a great and safe Independence Day celebration this week. I watched fireworks on TV, watched ID4, and attended a couple cookouts. It was a great time with friends.

The library is staying pretty busy, with a farm visit this week aside from our usual afternoon programs. Our summer reading program is going really well, too. Lots of kids and adults reading through the summer.

I’ve put Wizard on pause, and now I’ve started The Aeronaut’s Windlass by Jim Butcher. I’ve also started the Final season of Bones. 😦

Happy Birthday to Dad in a couple days! 🙂

I don’t know what it is, but I can’t seem to remember to post on time lately. Sorry about that.

Last weekend was the kick-off to our Summer Reading Club. The volunteens all did a great job engaging our customers and getting a lot of people signed up. Which they continued throughout the week. We have 26 volunteens this summer, so far. It’s really great to see them getting involved and encouraging their community to read this summer. It was also the first week of summer break, so we had a lot more kids in during the day. Including field trip groups nearly every day. It was a Very Busy week at the library.

Over the weekend, since I’m late posting. We also had our yearly Picnic on the Lawn with my local fleet family. The food was delicious, the games were fun, and everyone had a good time.

I finished Red Skies Over Red Seas, and this week, I’m going to be listening to The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

Summer Games June 1, 2017

I had a wonderful time at Barfleet Summer Games this past weekend. There was, unfortunately, an inordinate amount of rain. This put a damper on both our usual camping arrangement, and our usual circles around the bonfire. However, this led to us all camping much closer together and getting to know each other a lot better. Our socialization was confined to smaller spaces, and so it made for more of a fleet feel, instead of individual ships/bases. This was also bolstered by the two planned group meals, and the two unplanned group meals held in the Pavilion. It was a great time, with 133  of my fellow fleet campers.

In work news, Summer Reading Club starts this Saturday. As does a lot of the kids’ summer breaks. It’s going to be a fun summer. We have a lot of afternoon activities set up for them, and the prizes for SRC are pretty nice for adults and kids.

I finished The Expanse, and then started into Red Seas Under Red Skies by Lynch. However, my next library book became available, so I put that on pause, and started into The Greyfriar by Clay Griffith, read by James Marsters. It’s my first steampunk novel, but I’m not far enough into it yet to know what I think. Speaking of, I watched the 2011 The Three Musketeers last night, it was awesome. 🙂

I missed last week completely, and yesterday, too. Thanks, Mom, for reminding me. Not a whole lot going on, yet.  This month is when everything happens.

The library’s going well. We’re gearing up for Summer Reading Club. I’ve started cataloging the archival materials. At the warehouse, we’re over 17K books, plus a few thousand magazines.

I’ve finished Good Omens, and I’m most of the way through The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. Next up is probably Stardust. We started watching American Gods and The Handmaid’s Tale this week, as well.

Looking Forward August 11, 2016

Biggest news of the week – I have had my application for a new apartment accepted. At the end of September, I will be moving to a new place – townhome with A/C and everything. 😉 Well, not everything, I think I’m still without a dishwasher, but at least I’ll have kitchen counters. And according to the crime map, it’s a safer area, too.

In work news, Whitehall’s wrapping up their Summer Reading Club and getting geared up for the school year. This weekend starts IFLA ( International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) and since we’re a new branch, we’ll have international visitors next week. Over at Sprawl, I just finished putting the newest collection into plastic totes – 54 in all, and tomorrow I’ll start cataloging them. A Lot of 1st edition hardcovers, and many of them signed.

In audiobook news – I just finished Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett (yes, I’m reading the series in the wrong order), and I’ve started in on Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice because, of all the books I’ve read by her, I thought this would be the most interesting to revisit. Also, everything else I want to listen to is on hold. And The Martian doesn’t appear to be available through the library.

Mom and Dad are coming to visit this weekend. The girls’ birthdays are next week, but they’re to the age of having friends parties instead of family. Had a nice weekend with the puppy, and enjoyed a few movies and finishing the first season of The Librarians on Hulu.
