Sorry folks, I know a bunch of you looked for this a few days ago… I need to sort out this exhaustion. It’s not like I didn’t have time, I just used it to potato.

In that vein, I have started watching Supernatural… which then requires me to watch West Wing before I sleep, though not all the episodes freak me out, they’re getting less creepy, though I’m sure it’s just a phase. ๐Ÿ˜‰

On the work front, it feels like half the staff was out almost every day this week. So, it was a very busy, strange week. Thank you volunteens and interns for stepping up and helping out. They had their big party this past Friday, too.

So, that means summer is almost over, our reading program is done-ish (one more week to pick up prizes, though no more sign ups). The YMCA, I believe has two more weeks, but our summertime story times are done, and we have a two week break before the schooltime story times begin. One more week of lunches, before we take a short break before schoolday snacks resume, I believe. And it’s time for me to look for my next career step. One more week before I can apply within CML, and I’m scouring the surrounding areas, as well.

I learned to play the Harry Potter:Hogwarts Battle card-building game yesterday, as well as Xia: Legends of Drift ย with the Embers of a Forsaken Star expansion. Which I’m told makes it very different, though I never played without it, so I’ll have to take their word for it.

On the reading front, I’m pushing my way through Wheel of Time again, I’ve re-borrowed The Gathering Storm on Overdrive. I’ve also downloaded the new Libby app, and have a few holds waiting there, to see if I like it better. So far, I’ve had trouble finding my hold/loan shelf, but only until I figured it out. It’s rather simple, it was just too simple for someone used to menus.

The Good and the Bad June 24, 2017

It was an odd week for me. My schedule was all twisted up because I was helping out at the Opening of our newest library branch – Northside – on Thursday. That was a great event. There were over 400 people there, and everyone was excited by the new space. It is a gorgeous redesign, and they got more books, more computers, and more space. They even got a little cafe.

The bad was internet down at Sprawl most of the week, so I didn’t get a lot of hours in there. This also meant I didn’t get into a new book, because the day I did go in, I hadn’t downloaded the new book, and couldn’t do so. I’ve also been getting more stiff and achy lately. Which is super annoying, and makes me less motivated to do things, even though that’s exactly what I need to do.

On the upside, it is truly summer now, so all the bright shiny days should help me get more motivated. I’ve decided on Eddie Izzard’s autobiography next, to cheer the spirit and have some laughs.

Most of my time at work this week was full of our Vinyl rollout. We now have three bays of vinyl in our music department, instead of just one little table. I hope it keeps selling… ย The rest of the store is consumed by the Pop Culture events this month. Tomorrow night is Minions, Saturday is Star Wars, and Sunday is Manga Mania, which kicks off a week-long Buy Two, Get One Free sale. Head to your local B&N folks, it’s going to be a fun weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

For me? The weekend will be full of final project homework. My birthday is next weekend, and I’d like to be doing as little homework as possible after going to Cedar Point with friends next Friday. So, I have to add content to all my new webpages, and submit a progress report. Then I have to get my digital library of travel photos pulled together, and filled with metadata. I believe I have a progress report to do on that, as well. Oh, yeah, and I need to email the guy at CML about setting up a meeting to discuss my second internship this fall.

At least we’ve had some nice weather this week. Some pretty huge storms, too, but also some sun to dry things off. Like that tree in the road just down from me. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Summer is halfway over already, how did that happen??

Summer Vacation… is Almost Over… August 21, 2014

This is my week off between my summer class and fall semester. I have been exhausted all week. Naps after work the last two days. So exciting, I know. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Had a great weekend with my family. Nieces’ birthday on Saturday was fun. Lots of running around, eating, and playing. So much energy they and my nephew have! Their puppy doesn’t like balloons, though. Poor puppy, the house was full of them. Saw Guardians of the Galaxy with my parents on Sunday. It was fun, and silly, and touching. I liked it. ๐Ÿ™‚ ย Some shopping with Mom on Monday. Seriously fashion people, why the heck have you decided girls don’t need pockets??? Pant-fail.

End of the summer parties this weekend. Well, technically, one of the parties Saturday is a birthday, but still. Much fun and merriment to be had with parties and picnics before I start back to the grad-school grind. ๐Ÿ™‚

And then! Puppy and Kitty for two weeks! ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, it will be shortly, when I post my final response to someone’s paper, anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚ Shortened classes for summer session are really rough. But I have a week off to recover before the Fall semester starts. I think both my classes are starting together this time, too. Should be fun!

Family birthday party this weekend for the girls. Happy Birthday nieces!!! And my folks are coming down to visit as well. Maybe I’ll get themย to take me to seeย Guardians of the Galaxy. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I keep hearing such awesome reviews of it.

The store is the store, still looking for a lot of lead positions if anyone wants to come work with me. (Head Cashier, Childrens, Digital, etc.) ย Well, for as long as I’m there anyway. Applied to six more library positions this week. Starting to stress over Next fall’s unpaid internship, reminding myself that’s Next fall and it doesn’t matter right now.

All in all, things are good. New meds seem to be working, now if I can just eat better… I bought green things today. I’m working on it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Belated Birthday to Dad! (Was Tuesday)

I’m suddenly pet-sitting for a tiny dog and several cats for the weekend. Yay for AC/ ๐Ÿ™‚ Other than that, it should be a fairly quiet weekend. And then my summer class starts, so that’ll be fun. I hope.

Next weekend is full of events, and a friend moving, and starts the run of Birthdays! Also, I might be trying to build a new PC for my birthday. Perhaps. We’ll see if that goes anywhere. At the very least, I need a new video card, to try and fix my current one.

Wee, fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

Two parties this past weekend to welcome summer. The picnic on the Sunday was full of kids with water-guns, and tasty smoked meats. I had a great weekend of hanging out with friends and relaxing. Even got to play with a old portable typewriter that a friend had found at a yard sale. He needs to take me to these yard sales some time, he always finds the best stuff.

Work goes on. Our new hires have completed the first round of training and are being thrown into the mix/tossed to the wolves. Summer has a lot of people moving on or going on vacation, so we’re doing our best to keep up. The computers haven’t been cooperating this week, but we’re managing.

Apparently, we’ve given up on the tablet business, though. Going to stop making the HDs and let someone else do it instead. It appears that we will still carry and support whatever they come up with, but we won’t be financially responsible for them. Simple Touches are sticking around, though, and the Glowlight. In the meantime, our HDs are ridiculously cheap.

Another relaxing weekend ahead for me. Going to go visit my brother’s family on Sunday, so that should be fun. Should start packing soon, signing my new lease in three weeks.

Longest day of the year, and official start to summer was yesterday. And the temperatures are certainly agreeing. Lots of high 80s and low 90s around here these days. Occasional drops of rain to cool it down, but far less than is good for us.

My parents had a busy weekend: 39th anniversary, Father’s Day and moving all in three days’ time. But they seem to have survived it (and the down pouring rains) without too much hassle. I look forward to more pictures and actually getting to visit them at some point.

This Saturday is full of overlapping friends’ gatherings. A women’s event, a cookout wedding reception, and my usual night out. Oh, and I have to work all morning. Not sure what all I’m going to make it to. But it should be a fun day.

Less than two weeks until our trip to Boise. We’re pondering watching the fireworks from Bogus. Also, going to Wingers and Fuddruckers are a must. I miss good burgers and Wingers’ sauce. (No, Mike, I’m not getting a veggie burger, that’s what Northstar is for.)

Anyone going to England for the Olympics and have a suitcase I can hitch a ride in? I’ve got a place to stay, I just can’t afford the ticket… ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  Okay, can’t afford to miss the work either, but hey, who’s counting…

Also still looking for a job at a nonprofit. Not having much luck, or I don’t have the right skill sets they need. No word back from Mongoose. Anyone need a website designed or maintained? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Things are progressing as normal. Currently sitting in a waiting room at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s while Rich gets a Barium test to see if they need to remove any extra colon when he gets his second surgery. The lamp next to me does not appear to be plugged in.ย  Odd… not that it’s needed, just… odd. Surgery in 12 days and counting.

Shoring up our member site, and shopping cart at Bookup. Still waiting on an integration solution. But the removal of copy protection and return to registration has gone smoothly and sales are up. Next up, website modernization. It is far too difficult for customers to find what they want, and that includes the product catalog.

I’ve hit a stall with writing, and starting my own money-creating blog/website, but I’m still chipping away at the How. I’m doing far more journal writing than fiction these days. About to run out of flash fiction again for my website, will have to do something about that at least.

My health is good, almost back up to previous weight, just a few pounds shy, so feel better about that. No drugs in a few months now. Little aches here and there. Elbow continues to be my bane. But all in all, I’m doing quite well, and can do all the things I want to do.

My B&N Store has added some new sections and rearranged (almost) everything. I think I can find all the sections, but it’s going to take some getting used to. I picked up a few extra shifts over the next couple weeks, so that’ll help.

If my options go well, I’ll have some extra money for bills in June. Knock down a couple remaining medical bills without having to take money out of the investing account yet. I imagine we may end up having to do that, but for the moment, I’m hoping to just take out the profit. We shall see.

Summer is here, life is good, friends and family abound.

Food of the week: (it’s been a while, hasn’t it?): Spring Rolls (not exactly alkaline, but they’re veggie, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
