The kids are slowly trickling out of the library and back to school. Things are returning to quiet. And I’m on the hunt for my next move. Not as easy as it sounds.

Nearly done with the last (current) bit of collection three at Sprawl, then on to Glen Cook’s until the boss gets back. Massive construction on the road, and high volume at the other half of the warehouse has made it quite a month.

Eclipse on Monday, I’ll probably stay at work for our program to view it, unless I get another offer. Looking forward to another girl’s night next weekend, oil paint and all.

Finished Mocking Jay, and Fool Moon again, and now I’m listening to Mogworld by Yatzee Croshaw. Ridiculous and fun, as expected. Lots of books on hold, so luck of the draw will determine what I go on to next.

Did a better job of time-management this week, so I’m actually posting on Thursday. Good job, me.

Not much going on, though. Reported my weekend when I posted on Sunday. Final week of the Summer Reading Club, for the procrastinators. Raffle prizes being picked up. I’ve still got most of my coupons to use. Some of my coworkers are planning a boardgame night sometime.

I’m alone at Sprawl this month. Going through the last few totes of random things, then a couple boxes. I’ve got all of the Glen Cook collection to go through when I’m done.

I finished The Gathering Storm, and now I’m listening to Mockingjay while I wait for my holds to come through.

Today is Erika’s Birthday, Saturday Shari’s, Monday mine, and next weekend Marianne’s! I’m going to visit my family this weekend to celebrate my Dad’s from earlier this month, and my niece’s in August (as well as mine). And a birthday lunch with Erika on Sunday in the plan, since I’ll be so far north anyway. Then Monday for birthday lunch with Marianne who’s in from Scotland for the a while this summer, and in town for the weekend, and birthday dinner in the evening.

It’s been a rough week, been still vaguely ill all week, hopefully done now. We shall see. Didn’t work as much as I should have, but worked as much as I could.

I’ve been lazy about finding a new book to listen to, so I’ve re-listened to Storm Front and Hunger Games.

Hunger Games, etc. May 17, 2012

I just finished reading Hunger Games. I got it free when I bought my nook Simple Touch. I found it to be excellent. I’ve always been one for survivalist kids books, and we meet Katniss heading out to the woods to hunt. So, I was at home immediately. Told in first person narrative, it draws you in, makes you identify with this young woman fighting to keep her family alive, even when she’s fighting for her own life, she is still worried about her family at home. Set in a dystopian future, where children are forced to fight to the death to prove the districts are powerless over the Capitol, the book is the start of a story of overreaching governmental power and the resulting inevitable rebellion.  I hope Suzanne Collins keeps up the good work and Catching Fire and Mockingjay are just as good. I am also curious how Hollywood played the story, might have to catch it at the dollar theater.

I also recently finished Promise of the Witch King by R.A. Salvatore. A Jarlaxle and Entreri story which takes the two to the northern wilds of Vaasa. Their interactions are incredibly entertaining as always. And Entreri starts to learn more about himself, letting the reader in on more of the private world of this enigmatic assassin. Next up, the finale of their trilogy – Road of the Patriarch.

Since last week, Rich and I have made our summer plans. We have a place to sleep at WorldCon, tickets to Boise for the week of July 4th and the weekend following it, and a plan for our Maine trip in August. Still working on the smaller stuff.
