It snowed yesterday and been cold all week. March going out like a lion, hopefully means much better weather next week. It’s Ohio, I don’t figure we’re fully out of snow season until May, but still hoping April is good and warm.

Lots of birthdays the first week of April. My Mom, and two good friends in the first four days. Happy Birthday everyone. πŸ™‚

I was chatting with Rich today about work and how much I appreciated him working a job he hates to keep us afloat, and he commented I was doing the same thing, I just wasn’t getting hours. But that’s not true. I do like my job. I like working at the bookstore. What I don’t like is the pressure from Corporate to meet seemingly unreasonable performance goals. I know the market is tough and we have to make a profit, but ever increasing goals can become unreasonable for anyone.

Rich’s getting more interviews lately, so we’re carefully hopeful. I found a possible new place to live come June, 550 more square feet for $150 less a month. Going to check it out soon, see if it’s too good to be true, or if we’re going to apply.

I continue to fight with my body, and my diet. But I’m doing pretty well. A little Naproxen here and there is far better than what I used to do.Β  Just wish my elbow would behave.

Occasionally pondering starting a web design business and changing HydyPaige.com or registering another domain for a portfolio of what I can do. I really like WordPress and am pondering taking the time to learn it better and learn Joomla. One thing at a time. That might be my next big project. I work better with deadlines.

So, another month down, 9 more to go. πŸ™‚

My Health – I missed my doctor’s appointment this week. Thought I’d set a reminder, but I must have put it on my old phone. I didn’t realize until dinner the next evening. I called today and they graciously waived the missed appointment fee. I haven’t taken any meds in… I’m not sure, two months, maybe?Β  I haven’t done my blood work either. Once we get our current medical bills under control, I’ll get that done and probably talk to her, but that’s on hold for now. My joints are doing really well these days, elbow’s still a little swollen, but it’s not painful or problematic. As far as the diet, I stay fairly well on course, eating lots of salads and veggies and spelt products. I do eat desserts on a fairly regular basis, a cookie here, a bit of chocolate cake there. With MarCon coming up at the end of the month I’ve been pretty good, saving up my cheating this month for that, though I’ll still try to have some salad when it’s available.

MarCon – Multiple Alternative Realities Convention – is in two weeks. It’s a horror theme this year, not my favorite, but it should still be a fun time. The committee is working to pull together the programming, guests and gaming. I’m looking forward to seeing the costumes, art show and dealers room. Not that I have money to spend there, but I do enjoy ogling the pretties.

Cedar Point – In celebration of Bookup returning to non-copy protected, registration-only software, and the headaches that will relieve, Mike and I are taking Monday off to go to Cedar Point.

Bookup – The Express update without copy protection (returning to the registration system he used to use) was released last week, the trial version yesterday and hopefully the Professional version tomorrow. We have two very skilled gentlemen working on our Forum integration and are debating two help desk solutions. One works as is, though I’m not sold on how it works, the other has integration issues I would love to get solved. The membership site itself is up and ready, once we get the forum and help desk finished, we will just have to convince 44K people to create passwords and start using it. I’ve been reading a lot about generating free internet traffic, and am preparing to put some of that to work for Bookup. Everything is coming together.

The holidays are closing in, things are looking up, but stress levels are still hovering a little too high for comfort. I’m taking less Enbrel again, one every couple weeks or so. I’m taking all my drugs, but generally only every other day or so, sometimes more, not really ever less. I’m doing alright. My elbow, flared since September, still isn’t calm, but it’s not really any worse either and it doesn’t hurt. The swelling just goes up and down. I’m a little more tired lately, but that’s got a LOT to do with my work schedule these days, or should I say a lack of a sleep schedule. But, I’m really feeling quite well most of the time.

Rich started his new job recently, and that’s going extremely well. We are very lucky he found a job he really likes. One of the benefits of this job is two free domain names, so Rich is back on the web and he’s offered me the other. I am slowly gathering up all the ideas I’ve been floating the last few months in preparation for a new website. My second job is going quite well. On the side, I’m also learning about investing and covered calls. The year is nearly done, and what a ride it has been. Here’s to the next one.

Four moons of this diet and where am I? I reserve the right to edit this post when I’m not in such a foul mood from today’s work-related problem.

This weekend, aside from my elbow, my opposite ankle also swelled up, so on Sunday I took a 25mg shot of Enbrel. My elbow is still very swollen and my ankles both appear to have very minor swelling right now as I type this. I am back to my usual full dose of drugs and full of stress. It was my zag day this weekend, so that probably did not help matters. I keep saying I need to refocus on stricter eating guidelines and start exercising, but I’m also getting very frustrated. I suffer from a sense of entitlement, too… I want to be able to eat β€œlike everyone else.” I get attacks of β€œit’s not fair!” Then I go to, well, the drugs work, I can just take those and then I can do what I want. But as a very good friend pointed out, I started this diet because the drugs weren’t working, because I was having to take more drugs, not less. The cycle continues.

My zag was lovely party food Saturday night, Bob Evans’ steak burger for Brunch and an early dinner of lettuce wraps and Mongolian beef at PF Chang’s for dinner. I had a very fun weekend with friends and Rich and I finally got to see 9. It was a good movie, I need to watch it again when I’m not so tired, I think I only missed about 1/3 of it.

The week is not going as planned, but the majority of things are going well. I did find reasonably priced Almond Butter today. Delicious! I will be going to Unleashing the Power Within next month in Chicago. I go for inspiration, motivation and with any luck, useful information. My life is changing a lot right now, and a little affirmation wouldn’t hurt either. And who knows, maybe I’ll come out of it with a million dollar idea/novel/business model/financial plan. πŸ˜‰

Food of the week: Almond Butter (yes, again, it saved me from Custard)
