Fourth Thanksgiving dinner of the week had, and all enjoyed with good friends. Also had a nice lunch with family on Sunday. Was good to see Mom, Dad, Pete, and the kids. So thankful to have so many wonderful people in my life, and such supportive family.

Looking forward to a weekend of silly gaming. We’re using NGS to play various objects in a wizard tower, defending our home from invading animal-featured homunculi.   Should be a fun and relaxing break from work.

Job search continues, and my boss, while glad I’m not leaving yet, is very supportive of my efforts. As are the rest of my team. I am thankful to have such great coworkers, as well, as two jobs that I enjoy.

I am 3/4 done with Mad Ship, and eager to see how Artemis follows The Martian.

Mid-November with Thanksgiving next week. I’ve had a lot of lazy this week, with all the cold. But I’ve a very busy next few days. I did make it to an OhioDIG (Digitization Interest Group) meeting this week, which was pretty cool. Even though I had to leave early for an interview which seemed to go well (don’t they all). So, I’m working my way, step by step, to a bigger and better life.

Looking forward to seeing the family on Sunday, and all my friends in the next couple nights. Then a very full, if not super busy holiday week. I’ve got work, of course, and probably lots of Thanksgiving dinners. But it’s all pretty normal. And I’ll be spending the weekend gaming as a flying carpet, which should be amusing at the very least.

As for the lazy part, I haven’t made it to Sprawl this week, so no progress on the Audiobook front. I am excited to get Artemis next week when my Audible credit comes through. A little leery of the character being the same as his previous book, but hopeful that it’ll be fun either way. Thor Ragnarok was just as fun and entertaining as I hoped. The music was great, too, and I don’t usually notice soundtracks. Though Marvel movies have been making them more noticeable lately for comedic effect.

Hope everyone has a great week. I’ll see you all again on Thanksgiving.

Today is the first day of December, the first day of Advent. The weather, after briefly warming up Tuesday and Wednesday, has dropped down to winter temperatures. Tomorrow, I will be putting up the last of my curtains to keep it out. With the help of a couple friends.

I had a nice Thanksgiving weekend with the puppy. Watched a very good, very hard fought football game between UofM and OSU, on an actual TV and everything (usually, I’m seeing the poorly broadcast Gamecast on ESPN). I also got my haircut in preparation for my interview tomorrow (good thoughts, please). Not a very Good picture, but here’s what it looks like:

New Hair Cut

This weekend looks to be a quiet affair. Possibly going to watch people bowl tomorrow night. And I’ve borrowed some Lego Harry Potter Wii games from the library. 😉

I’m a good bit into Cursor’s Fury by Butcher, and I got Harm None by Sellars from Audible to listen to next. New D&D campaign has begun in a haunted puzzle house, so that was a really fun start this week.

The holiday season is fully upon us, and I’m still trying to decide about decorating.

Happy Thanksgiving to my family, my friends, and all my readers. I hope you had the chance to spend the day with your loved ones, and enjoy good food and good company. I’m just home from spending the day with the puppy, and a watching most of Series 9 of Doctor Who.

It’s been a pretty typical week for me. Listened to a couple of Heinlein books – The Door into Summer and Citizen of the Galaxy. I’ve got another Butcher on the line, book three of the Codex Alera series. As well as, another credit from Audible to spend.

I am thankful for all that I have – for friends, for family, for my home, my job, my car. I am thankful that I can life the life I want. However, I know that I have to do more…

As we sit comfortably at home, horrible things have been happening in North Dakota – Water hoses in freezing temperatures, tear gas, and rubber bullets. Being used against unarmed Native Americans, trying to protect what little they have left, and the water that sustains them.

Mom and I had a great visit. Dr Strange was a very fun movie, enjoyed it very much. We got curtains and rugs, and a few other things to upgrade my new place. Thank you, Mom. Pictures will come when I finish getting them up – having a bit of wall trouble, but soon. All it all, a good weekend. This coming weekend will be full of busy, too. Parties with friends, and work, and a meeting. All the things.

Work is going well. Gaming is good, we’re about to wrap up one chapter of our current campaign, and then switch gears to a new one. Next week is Thanksgiving, not sure how many dinners I’ll be having – at least three, and one potluck. Some folks are heading off to weekend conventions, so I’ll get some puppy time. 🙂

Finished listening to Off to Be the Wizard – silly book. Now I’m on The Door Into Summer. Strange so far, but then what Heinlein isn’t. I’ve got a few more holds, and one more Heinlein on the line.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Family and Friends!

Thanksgiving Dinner

Ralphie tried to save me from myself by attacking the loaf of wheat bread for the stuffing, but I caught it before it was destroyed. I may have roasted the hen upside-down… maybe. All in all, though, it turned out really well. Just ate about half of this (all the hen, not quite half the cranberry sauce) for first dinner. Finishing it in a few hours for second dinner.  😉

Had a really nice weekend with friends this past weekend. Another one ahead. December, funnily enough, will be much quieter than November was. Hopefully, it’ll help me keep up the energy I need to get a job nailed down. A lot of applications to send out there. Still optimistic.

Taking a break from Dresden Files until I can get the Marsters narrated Ghost Stories. (I tried, I just couldn’t do it with Glover.) So, I picked up Neil Patrick Harris’s Choose Your Own Autobiography audiobook from the library. They had to change it up a bit for the audiobook, but it’s just as entertaining as I expected.  Going to take a look for Carey Elwes’ As You Wish, too at some point. It wasn’t at Bexley, when I was, at least.

Enjoying the ridiculous Detroit Lions game today. Wow…

Hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend.

And Black Friday!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I had a very nice afternoon with my Brother’s family. And evening with the puppy.

Work today was nice and busy, but I left before it got too hectic. Mall traffic was already awful, but we had plenty of people on hand to help today. So that was nice.

Still working on my last final for Digital Libraries. And then, Break!

Thanksgiving next week. I’ll be having lunch with my brother, sis-in-law, and their kids. So, that’ll be fun, and tasty.

I do have to work opening on Black Friday – come get your new Nook/Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. But That means I get off work in the early afternoon and can just relax the rest of the weekend.

And by relax, I mean work on my term project for Digital Libraries. So close to done for the semester. 🙂

Not much else going on, really. 🙂

I wish everyone a very happy, safe and love-filled Thanksgiving today. Safe travels for those on the road, and a snow storm for those waiting outside retail establishments for sales. 😉 (No, I’m not looking forward to working this weekend, but at least the time will go by fast.)

This past weekend was pet-sitting while folks went out east, this weekend is pet sitting while folks go to Indiana. Poor Ralphie’s back in his cone, though. Dusty is ignoring me so far today though I imagine he’ll come out when I start eating dinner.

In the oven so far: Cornish hen and homemade stuffing. In an hour, I’ll switch the stuffing for the yams, and check on the hen. Tuesday I had an excellent Thanksgiving feast with my gaming friends, last night the folks I pet-sit for made me another excellent feast, today is with the pup and cat, and tomorrow, I imagine there will be all sorts of food at work. 🙂 Quite a good Thanksgiving week.

School-wise, I’ve got an annotated bibliography and summary to do this weekend, and one post to reply to sometime before Sunday. Next week is my last week for the semester. Hurray, a break so I can catch up on Dr Who and Bones. 😉

All in all, a good start to the holiday season.

My first adventure in real Thanksgiving cooking today. With help of a good friend, I made some amazing turkey breasts. I also cooked sweet potatoes, complete with marshmallows browned on top. And there were garlic mashed potatoes as well. We had dinner with Mike and his family, who made all manner of vegetarian dishes, from chop salad to potato latkes and a meatless meatloaf. There was also pumpkin pie and rice crispy treats for dessert, complete with ice cream and whipped cream.

Had a great party last weekend with friends, but it unfortunately passed the flu around to a good handful of the attendees. I was down for the count the first half of this week. Recovering, fortunately, in time to have dinner today. Several are still down and ill.

The next two days are going to be crazy at work, but as I had the last two days off due to illness, I could do with some crazy. But really folks, let’s not stampede anybody this year, eh? (Not at my job, we don’t do doorbusters much, but in general.) Nothing is more important than the health and safety of your fellow shoppers. Be nice to your cashiers, we’re doing our best, and please, don’t tell us you could get it cheaper online. We are consumers, too.
