Arrival in Boise, to 70 degree temps, made me glad I’d brought my jacket. Our first stop with the In-Laws was Wingers, for their Original Amazing Sticky Fingers. Oh, how we’d missed that flavor. Unlimited popcorn, salad, drinks, chicken and fries later, we were happily stuffed. We headed to WinCo to buy groceries for the next few days, and then to Rich’s childhood home for an afternoon of hummingbird and squirrel watching. Busily texting, Rich invites over one of his oldest friends, his cousin et al, and another couple of friends while Gale makes dinner. After a dinner of salad, garlic toast, chicken and pasta, we head up to show them some You Tube comedy until guests arrive. A nice evening of chatting ensues until Rich starts nodding off, and people take their leave, promising to see us later in the week.

The 4th begins with a trip to a juice shop for a double shot of wheat grass juice for Rich and and orange juice smoothie for me. Some more time in the back garden, while we discuss plans for the week and movies we want to see, while Rich texts more people and invites over his best friend. We head inside to make salty carmel ice cream, a la Jeni’s cookbook and have a quick lunch. Then we head upstairs to try to hook up the tablet to the old TV, to no avail, there is no HDMI input on any of their devices, so we start watching Luther with computer speakers attached to the tablet until Chris arrives. We finish our episode and then dinner prep while we all catch up on life.

Salad, tater tots and 1lb. hamburgers take a bit longer than planned, so we don’t make it up to the mountain for fireworks. Instead, we head to a parking lot behind the house where we get a front row seat for illegal fireworks directly overhead (not cool), and have to move a few times, ending in the front lawn of a church, in order to see the last half of the Meridian Speedway (legal) fireworks show.

Today, the In-Laws are back to work, and we’re getting ready to head out in search of an internet connection, as they took the router with them. Lunch at Fuddruckerswas alright, though I would not consider my burger to have been cooked medium rare. Finally found WiFi at Moxie Java. Dinner will be pizza, and then meeting a few friends later tonight. The temperatures are still in the 60s at night, 70s morning and evening. We are getting 80s in the afternoons. I brought a jacket, but I wish I’d brought a long sleeved denim shirt. I doubt the shorts are coming out at all.

I’m happy to see the FB updates as folk get power back much earlier than expected. I hope those still without are doing alright. And that everyone had a happy Fourth of July. Coming up, some more busy days, including my Dad’s 65th Birthday on Sunday. Happy Birthday, Dad!!

I’ve pretty much been ill with a cold and cough since my last post. It’s getting better, but it’s still not gone. So there has been lots of hot apple cinnamon herbal tea with a Mexican cinnamon stick for extra spice. And some OJ and Sprite for the vitamin C. And the first few days, some Alka Seltzer Cold. I did do Wheat Grass Juice on Monday, but it just drained my nose into my chest. Nearly gone though, I shall prevail.

Nearly May, and Mother’s Day and ten years since I graduated from Denison. Our reunion is in June, and right now we’re trying to sort out which of the Betonians are able to come and what we’ll do. So many so far away (we Miss you!) or with brand new babies. Congrats to all the new (or second time) parents! We’ll miss you, too.

Also going to Sage’s release party tomorrow, her book: Love Sucks is being released tomorrow by Musa Publishing. In any eBook format you could possibly want. Congrats Sage!

Rich and I did give in and start playing WoW for real again. I’m almost to 50 pets, and and have 33 mounts. But I’ve gotta learn to play Plants vs Zombies better. Considering rezzing my old account and combining it with my new one, but we’ll see. Might be too much effort. Might not.

Still waiting on contract from Mongoose Publishing. Really excited for the chance to work with them. 🙂 They’re super busy, though, so I’m patient.

Returned previously bought shoes and got more solid and comfortable ones. And that’s about it this past week. Winter isn’t here yet, not really. Work is still recovering from December. Did have a big gyoza dinner with folk this past Saturday. Fighting off cold bugs with wheat grass juice.

This coming weekend is DeCon, an adult relaxicon, where I’ll be hanging out and helping to throw parties. Possibly playing board games. Mostly, though, relaxing. 🙂

Did go to the doc again, added another pill back. Didn’t want to do that, but I’m not sticking with my diet, and my wrist and elbow have lost a lot of range of motion. Tired of it. Just tired. So we’ll see if this helps or not.

Do You Feel Older? July 29, 2010

That seems to be the question of the week. I have generally responded with: I’ve felt old since I was 17, I feel pretty good today. I had a wonderful birthday weekend with friends and chosen family. I didn’t see any of my blood family, but I did talk to both my parents and my brother. It was good to hear from them, too.

I ate a lot of wonderful food, both out at restaurants, and made specially for me. About half of it was healthy and good for me, about half of it was delicious anyway. 😉   My joints are getting back at me this week for it, though, so back to alkaline for me. Started the week with wheat grass juice, still tastes awful, but I’m getting better at drinking it. Inta Juice is a lovely shop and doesn’t charge nearly as much as Whole Foods used to (when they still had it).

For my birthday I got a couple books, some DVDs, some gaming dice and some clothes. Thanks go out to my parents and my in-laws for those. Knowledge, entertainment and clothing to go with the nourishment and fellowship. I also saw two movies, Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Inception. Next week, Cedar Point to top it off with a fun experiences.

Inception sent my mind whirling, partially about the topic of the movie, creating reality in dreams, but also into other types of reality creation. In parts of the movie the soundtrack/sound effects were quite blatant, and it made me think about creating with music. The moods and emotions that music invokes and the creativity it can inspire. I have always enjoyed fantasy stories where music is the medium of magic, because it is so meaningful to us and speaks to us in ways that words alone may not.

It also got me thinking about creating the reality I want to live in. Creating the life I want to have. Creating the online presence, websites, and business(es) I want to design. Mike’s getting advice for the Bookup.com website and one of the things that was said was he should fire his web designer. We both agreed with this advice and were glad that he didn’t hire me as his web designer. I don’t have the skills for that, we both know that, but they are skills I want to gain. At the moment I am more like his web programmer, he tells me what he wants and I make it happen. We both need advice and guidance in the design category. I am very grateful that this coach has some ideas in this area.

There are so many things I want to do, all spinning about my head. I want to learn WordPress, learn how to make custom Themes, create a website offering both these Themes and tips and tricks and advice for WordPress in general. I have a lot of WordPress references, books, websites, personal advice, that I would like to collect all in one place, for myself at the very least.

Next step, is a curiosity about Joomla. What it can do. What I can do with it. I have started gathering reference material, but I think WordPress first, it seems an easier thing to learn.

I also have writing projects, Traffic Ultimatum, Four Hour Work Week, affiliates, a gaming carry-all and getting out of Barnes & Noble running around in my head. Not to mention my simple weekly blogging, the growing stack of books I want to read, investing, and medical bills. Life is crazy, fun, wonderful, exciting and full of so many opportunities. I have My Next Thirty Years by Tim McGraw running through my head lately. They will definitely be the best years of my life.
