I really do need to get back to Ireland some day. Preferably during one of the many gaming conventions, most preferably, during WARPCon. But not just for the fun and silliness of gaming and raising a glass with old friends. I really didn’t get to see much of the country last time because I was a student. We did do a bit of rambling, thank you Brian and Brian, but there is still more I want to see. England, too for that matter, I only saw a university campus when I was there last time. Some day. 🙂

On the idea of goals and dreams, I sent in my resume to WOTC for freelance editing, just in case they’re looking for any. They’re putting out a lot of material these days, I figured it was worth a shot. Especially as I now have experience in the field, unlike last time I applied, straight out of college.  I also put my name in the hat for a web design opportunity through a friend. We’ll see if anything comes of that. Excited about finding new opportunities, anyway.

Had a zag this past weekend celebrating with friends in Cleveland for the 25th anniversary of their ship. Trying to be good until April now. At least mostly good. Supplementing boredom with fruit, I’ve got bananas and cuties on the shelf now. Looking at a blender for smoothies, but I don’t have money for that right now.

One of the offices that my records show us owing money to, called us back and left a message to say they owed Us money instead and are sending us a check. I tried to call them back today, but after over an hour on hold I had to go to work. Maybe they’ll send a statement with the check. I don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I also don’t want to turn around and get bitten in the butt by it. Really want to get these debts taken care of, but must have a massive change in income to do that. We are working on that as best we can, though. Prayers, good thoughts and any contacts or leads would be appreciated. 😉

My Health – I missed my doctor’s appointment this week. Thought I’d set a reminder, but I must have put it on my old phone. I didn’t realize until dinner the next evening. I called today and they graciously waived the missed appointment fee. I haven’t taken any meds in… I’m not sure, two months, maybe?  I haven’t done my blood work either. Once we get our current medical bills under control, I’ll get that done and probably talk to her, but that’s on hold for now. My joints are doing really well these days, elbow’s still a little swollen, but it’s not painful or problematic. As far as the diet, I stay fairly well on course, eating lots of salads and veggies and spelt products. I do eat desserts on a fairly regular basis, a cookie here, a bit of chocolate cake there. With MarCon coming up at the end of the month I’ve been pretty good, saving up my cheating this month for that, though I’ll still try to have some salad when it’s available.

MarCon – Multiple Alternative Realities Convention – is in two weeks. It’s a horror theme this year, not my favorite, but it should still be a fun time. The committee is working to pull together the programming, guests and gaming. I’m looking forward to seeing the costumes, art show and dealers room. Not that I have money to spend there, but I do enjoy ogling the pretties.

Cedar Point – In celebration of Bookup returning to non-copy protected, registration-only software, and the headaches that will relieve, Mike and I are taking Monday off to go to Cedar Point.

Bookup – The Express update without copy protection (returning to the registration system he used to use) was released last week, the trial version yesterday and hopefully the Professional version tomorrow. We have two very skilled gentlemen working on our Forum integration and are debating two help desk solutions. One works as is, though I’m not sold on how it works, the other has integration issues I would love to get solved. The membership site itself is up and ready, once we get the forum and help desk finished, we will just have to convince 44K people to create passwords and start using it. I’ve been reading a lot about generating free internet traffic, and am preparing to put some of that to work for Bookup. Everything is coming together.

November began with my first of two Zag days. Yes, that’s two zag days in two weeks, but it was the second of five Fleet parties in a row(anf I’m missing the next three). So it began with an Early breakfast the day of the party, which included a hamburger and a piece of carmel apple pie. Lunch was at a local Vegan restaurant and was Divine. All the food was completely vegan. I had bread, salad, spaghetti salad, a potato dish I did not understand, butternut squash pancakes and an apple pastry dessert with apple and butternut squash sorbets, along with fresh squeezed apple juice infused with lavender to drink. Dinner was an odd assortment of foods created by various members of fleet including, but not limited to: sweet bacon crackers, pork and beans, deviled eggs, a cream puff, chocolate chip and bacon cookies, brownies and garlic bread. I drank mostly coke & stuff throughout the night to end my zag.

As for the rest of the week, things went fairly typically. I’m back down to one Enbrel shot every two weeks, for a couple reasons, but most notably, I’m feeling pretty good. My elbow is still it’s usual ornery self, but nothing seems to change that. I see my Doctor today, so we’ll have some things to talk about. Including some three months without health insurance as Rich has accepted a new job doing tech support.

Food of the week: Aladdin’s Garden Pita

That seems like a lot. Fifteen weeks…

This past week has gone fairly well. My elbow is still swollen, not terribly, and not painfully, but it won’t calm down completely. I haven’t decided what to do about that yet. A shot might help, but I really don’t want to. I did a lot of eating out, eating salads and such lately. Little too much bad stuff in my food, bread or rice noodles. I finally got groceries this weekend, lots of veggies and almonds. Still need to find reasonably priced almond butter. OMG that stuff is delicious. Regaining focus, though I’ve a zag day coming up this weekend. Schedule changes coming up. I’m trying to decide if I should how to set up regular exercise around a possibly newly regulated schedule. Come home at noon most days, if the pattern holds, exercise then eat lunch(or is it supposed to be the other way around?).  Then do my other jobs. It could work.

Food of the week: Almond butter on sprouted grain tortilla.

Wow, twelve weeks. And I’m feeling great. Still no drugs taken, still haven’t called my doctor. Still struggling with cravings. But, I got to have my Zag day for our Fifth Anniversary. Went to TGIFriday’s and had potstickers and Sesame Jack Chicken Strips and delicious lemonade. Had some chocolate covered cookie dough at the theater, but it wasn’t as wonderful as I’d hoped. Had beef and noodle stir fry at Benihana for lunch, and Papa Murphy’s pizza for dinner. It was a good zag day and it didn’t even hurt that much. Had a good weekend with family, ate well with my Aunt and Uncle and at my brother’s place. Avoided the junk food and had a good time.

Food of the week: The broccoli and sesame seed salad base Mom made.

An interesting week. I had my birthday last Friday, so I zagged wonderfully. Had watermelon for breakfast, a whole half of a watermelon. Apparently that was a bit too much fresh fruit, as my stomach became unhappy fairly quickly. But recovered in time for Lunch at Red Lobster. Lots of Cheddar Bay Biscuits, a nice House Salad with French dressing, a Maple Glazed Grilled Chicken Breast, Vegetables and Baked Potato, as well as Raspberry Lemonade. Delicious! Then we went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Too full from lunch for Movie snacks. It was a good movie, I thought. Then home to homemade meaty and cheesy pizza and strawberry gelato a la Zack. Both were Very tasty, but my tummy is normally unhappy with dairy, so I didn’t eat a Whole lot of either. Then off to CJ’s for drinks, s’mores, lime tortilla chips and hot tubbing. It was a fairly quiet affair, very nice and relaxing.

Saturday morning I ate a good chunk of Zach’s Irish Soda Bread with soy butter. MMmmmm yum! Then spent the day and night with Rich. A very lovely rainy Saturday. Sunday Mike and I went to Cedar Point, where I had Two Salads, and part of a chocolate covered frozen banana. And I believe I now have ridden every ride in the park. Yes, he even got me on both sides of the Power Tower. Then we went to Outback for dinner and I had salad, salmon and veggies, but also about a loaf and a half of bread and butter.

Monday and Tuesday were stressful, but alkaline, and today I’m thinking about making a few changes to my diet for sanity’s sake. I want to keep doing this, but some frustrations are pushing me to the breaking point. Apples and Bananas I think at the least. I’m tossing around the idea of more flat bread, without worrying about sprouted grain or alkaline grain so much, pitas and tortillas. Simple foods, not heavily processed things. Not looking to go back to junk food, fast food, sugar, dairy and all that stuff. But I need to find a better balance for myself.

Food of the week: Grilled Fresh Atlantic Salmon

Fighting sore throat: won. Fighting cold: winning. It’s been a week of questionable health, but still a fairly good week. A little bit whiny about how eating isn’t simple or quick anymore, well, at least the prep for said eating. But it’s still not bad, I’m getting the hang of it, getting used to it. And feeling the benefit. Zag day coming up at the end of the week, happy birthday to me. 🙂

Food of the week: Toasted yeast-free organic sprouted kamut bread with soy butter and garlic salt.

This past week(end) was Origins Game Fair. I spent Wednesday night and all day Saturday and Sunday volunteering for the Art Show. We had some really great artists and lots of really gorgeous art work. I helped the end of set up, and then most of tear down, and in between, I worked the bag check table. Yes, you really have to leave all your bags here, yes, even your purse. No, you cannot take your camera into the art show. We had art ranging from magnets to stickers to CCGs to massive framed paintings to handmade chain mail. One of my favorite pieces was a Shadowrun piece from Catalyst Game Labs. It was a young woman sitting on some stairs and reminded me of a drawing of a rogue elf I once used as an avatar. But there were also lots of adorable dragons and lots of other fun game-related art. Some day I will go to a convention with Money in my pocket and get to buy something that catches my eye. I made a whirlwind tour of the exhibit hall on my Sunday Lunch break, but didn’t bother to really look at anything given the no money. I still had a great time, though. Still got to hang out with friends and help out friends. It was a good weekend.

And the weekend was extended into Monday for me, my Zag day. I Started Zag day at 6pm on Sunday evening. The artists brought us Chocolate Chip Cookies on Saturday, and I didn’t touch them. But then Popcorn appeared on Sunday, Carmel and Kettle in a tin. And I just could not wait for dinner, so I started an hour early, chowing down on Carmel Corn. Then Mike and Jenica took me to Quaker Steak and Lube, where I had Unleaded Strawberry Lube-n-Ade, Deep Fried Onion Rings, Traditional Bavarian Pretzels, and a mixed greens salad topped with boneless Asian Sesame “wings.” After dinner we went on a quest for Newman’s Own Ginger-Os that took us to two different stores, and picked up Banana Strawberry Naked juice along the way. Went home and watched Religulous and ate said cookies and juice. Dessert was good, the movie was nothing I hadn’t already heard. Got up in the morning, came home and had European Round Loaf and Soy butter for breakfast. Went out and got Cheesy Bread and a large ground beef and bacon pizza from Papa Murphy’s. I could only manage two pieces of pizza and about the equivalent amount of cheesy bread. Dinner was McDonald’s Quarter Hamburger value meal with Hi-C because things didn’t go as planned, and I only ate about half of that, too. But all in all, it was a good Zag day. I didn’t get sick, and I enjoyed taking a short break from being alkaline. Next one: my 29th birthday.

In other news, I wrote a story in the last week and typed it up today. Edited it and sent it out to L. Ron Hubbard’s Writers of the Future Contest. It’s a strange little piece, but then, when do I ever write anything that isn’t?
